Chemical control of faba bean rust (Uromyces viciae-fabae)

open access: yesCrop Protection, 2011
The effectiveness of eleven foliar-applied fungicides on faba bean rust (Uromyces viciae-fabae (Pers.) J. Schröt.) and on the seed yield of faba bean (Vicia faba L.) were studied in growth chambers and in the field in Spain. Fungicides were tested at recommended and reduced rates.

New faba bean germplasm with multiple resistances to Ascochyta blight, chocolate spot and rust diseases

open access: yesEuphytica, 2016
Faba bean is one of the oldest crops that originated in the Fertile Crescent and is now distributed around the world and produced under different agro-climatic conditions. It is mainly cultivated in high rainfall and irrigated areas which are favorable for the development of foliar diseases causing severe crop losses.

The effect of rust on yield of faba bean cultivars and slow-rusting populations

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Plant Science, 1991
Field studies were conducted in 1983 and 1984 to assess the effect of rust (Uromyces viciae-fabae) on the yield components, pods per plant, seed per plant, seed per pod, total dry matter and harvest index of two faba bean (Vicia faba) cultivars and one susceptible line.

Intercropping of Faba Bean with Wheat Under Different Nitrogen Levels Reduces Faba Bean Rust and Consequent Yield Loss

Plant Disease, 2022
While intercropping can help control faba bean rust, the ability of intercropping to reduce this disease under different levels of nitrogen fertilization and its contribution to increasing yield is not clear. In this study, two planting patterns of faba bean monocropping and wheat/faba bean intercropping, together with two treatments for disease ...

Pathogenic Specialization in Uromyces viciae-fabae in Australia and Rust Resistance in Faba Bean

Plant Disease, 2021
The pathogen Uromyces viciae-fabae causes rust (a fungal disease) on faba bean (Vicia faba). This disease limits faba bean production in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Australia. The development of resistant cultivars to U. viciae-fabae is the optimal solution for sustainable disease management. However, unknown virulence in Australian U.
