Crop Diversification to Control Rust in Faba Bean Caused by Uromyces viciae-fabae [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fungi, 2023
Uromyces viciae-fabae is a highly specific biotrophic fungus that causes faba bean rust, one of the major diseases affecting this crop. We have assessed the feasibility of using intercropping (faba bean mixed with either pea, wheat or barley) or mixtures

Response of Vicia species to Ascochyta fabae and Uromyces viciae-fabae [PDF]

open access: yesCzech Journal of Genetics and Plant Breeding, 2014
A collection of 267 accessions belonging to 61 Vicia species other than V. faba was screened under growth chamber conditions for response to Ascochyta fabae and Uromyces viciae-fabae, causal agents of ascochyta blight and faba bean rust, respectively ...

Resistance to rusts (Uromyces pisi and U. viciae-fabae) in pea [PDF]

open access: yesCzech Journal of Genetics and Plant Breeding, 2014
Pea is the second most important food legume crop in the world. Rust is a pea disease widely distributed, particularly in regions with warm, humid weather. Pea rust can be incited by Uromyces viciae-fabae and by U. pisi. U.

Multi-Environment QTL Mapping of Rust Resistance in Faba Bean (Vicia faba L.) to Uromyces viciae-fabae [PDF]

open access: yesPlants
Faba bean rust is one of the major threats to the cultivation of faba beans worldwide. Three genes for rust resistance (Uvf-1, Uvf-2 and Uvf-3) and fifteen marker-trait associations have been identified so far.

Natural Urease Inhibitors Reduce the Severity of Disease Symptoms, Dependent on the Lifestyle of the Pathogens [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fungi, 2023
The development of new anti-ureolytic compounds is of great interest due to the newly discovered role of urease inhibitors in crop protection. Purine degradation and the generation of ammonium by urease are required for the full virulence of biotrophic ...

Identification and Characterization of Resistance to Rust in Lentil and Its Wild Relatives [PDF]

open access: yesPlants, 2023
Lentil rust is a major disease worldwide caused by Uromyces viciae-fabae. In this study, we screened a large germplasm collection of cultivated lentils (Lens culinaris ssp. culinaris) and its wild relatives, both in adult plants in the field with a local

Conventional and Molecular Breeding Tools for Accelerating Genetic Gain in Faba Bean (Vicia Faba L.) [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
Faba bean is a cool-season grain legume crop, which is grown worldwide for food and feed. Despite a decrease in area under faba bean in the past, the interest in growing faba bean is increasing globally due to its high seed protein content and its ...

Climate change conditions the selection of rust-resistant candidate wild lentil populations for in situ conservation [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Crop Wild Relatives (CWR) are a valuable source of genetic diversity that can be transferred to commercial crops, so their conservation will become a priority in the face of climate change.

Rust of Broad Bean (Vicia faba) Caused by Uromyces viciae-fabae [PDF]

open access: yesResearch in Plant Disease, 2002
Rust disease was found on broad bean (Vuia faba) in several farmer`s fields located in Changseon-myon, Nam-hae-gun, Gyeongnam province in Korea. The infection rate of the disease in the surveyed area was 84.3% in 2002. The typical symptoms of the disease appeared first as small, white spots on leaves, stems and pods.

Disease spectrum and its molecular characterisation in the lentil production system of lower-Indo Gangetic plains [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Lentil is a food legume grown in the Indo-Gangetic plains including lower Gangetic Bengal (LGB). Lentil productivity in this zone is severely impeded because of the prevalence of several biotic cues.
