Serum Fas/FasL levels in dependence on clinical presentations of coronary disease and their relationship with risk factors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background/Aim. Ischemic heart disease is mostly a consequence of atherosclerosis. Besides the inflammation, the Fas/Fas ligand (FasL)/caspase death pathway is documented to be activated in atherosclerotic lesions.

The cDNA structure, expression, and chromosomal assignment of the mouse Fas antigen.

open access: yesJournal of Immunology, 1992
The cell surface Fas antigen is a membrane-associated polypeptide which can mediate apoptosis. cDNA clones encoding the Fas antigen were isolated from a cDNA library constructed with mRNA from the mouse macrophage cell line BAM3.

Surface‐Associated Proteins on Extracellular Vesicles Remodel the Tumor Microenvironment by Potentiating TGF‐β Signaling in a Contact‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) released from TGF‐β‐activated CAFs are enriched with ECM proteins such as TSG6 and THBS1, which facilitate their binding to recipient cell membranes. This EV–cell interaction promotes the clustering of CD44 and TGF‐β receptors on the target cell surface, thereby potentiating TGF‐β signaling activity. This study highlights a

The role of apoptosis in pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes mellitus

open access: yesСахарный диабет, 2010
Type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM1) is known to be associated with progressive destruction of pancreatic beta-cells. Apoptosis plays the key role in this destructiveprocess.

Dietary fatty acids and lipoproteins on progression of age-related macular degeneration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a medical condition of central loss vision and blindness. Numerous studies have revealed that changes on certain dietary fatty acids (FAs) could have useful for AMD management.

Endocytic Control of Cell‐Autonomous and Non‐Cell‐Autonomous Functions of p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NUMB Ex3‐containing isoforms localize to the plasma membrane, where they recruit p53 through SNX9 and direct it to multivesicular bodies and exosomes. Exported p53 is taken up by neighboring cells and activates nuclear programs, revealing an intercellular, exosome‐based pathway that might help establish a tumor‐suppressive microenvironment.

Fas involvement in Ca(2+)-independent T cell-mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1993
Mechanisms of T cell-mediated cytotoxicity remain poorly defined at the molecular level. To investigate some of these mechanisms, we used as target cells, on the one hand, thymocytes from lpr and gld mouse mutants, and on the other hand, L1210 cells ...

Material‐Induced Nuclear Deformation Controls Chromatin Architecture in Adipose Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tuning cell and cytoskeleton mechanics modulated nuclear shape and heterochromatin organization in ASCs. Distinct cytoskeletal architectures induced nuclear morphologies from oblate to prolate ellipsoids. Large elongated cells with a structured actin cap exhibited high nuclear strain, driving nuclear envelope deformation and heterochromatin ...
