A karst networks generation model based on the anisotropic Fast Marching algorithm
Journal of Hydrology, 2021Abstract Karst aquifers are difficult to model due to their complex conduit networks that are heterogeneous and anisotropic. Here, we present a heuristic algorithm for modeling karst networks by calculating minimum-effort paths based on our knowledge of karst evolution that is constrained by field observations.

Fast Variants of the Backward-Oracle-Marching Algorithm
2009 Fourth International Conference on Internet Computing for Science and Engineering, 2009This study focuses on the faster exact single pattern string matching algorithms. In all solutions, two variants of BOM, EBOM and FBOM are very efficient. We improved them and presented two algorithms named Simplified-EBOM and Simplified-FBOM through removing the unnecessary branches and accomplishing the core calculation of the algorithm in a 1 ...

Color and/or texture segmentation using deterministic relaxation and fast marching algorithms
Proceedings 15th International Conference on Pattern Recognition. ICPR-2000, 2002The segmentation of colored texture images is considered. Either luminance, color, and/or texture features could be used for segmentation. For luminance and color the classes are described using the corresponding empirical probability distributions. The discrete wavelet frames analysis is used for obtaining features of texture patterns.

A Fast Fourier Transform Accelerated Marching-on-in-Time Algorithm for Electromagnetic Analysis
Electromagnetics, 2001A fast algorithm is presented for solving a time-domain electric field integral equation (EFIE) pertinent to the analysis of scattering from uniformly meshed, perfectly conducting structures. The marching-on-in-time (MOT) scheme that results from discretizing this EFIE is accelerated by using the fast Fourier transform to perform spatial convolutions ...

Reinforced fast marching method and two level thresholding algorithm for cloud detection
2016 International Conference on Advances in Computing, Communications and Informatics (ICACCI), 2016Cloud detection is preliminary task which shows the pathway to meteorological and cloud field research. This paper puts forward the effective cloud detection scheme for cumulus and cirrus cloud. First, Two Level Thresholding Algorithm is proposed for cirrus cloud detection.

Modified Fast Marching Tractography Algorithm and Its Ability to Detect Fibre Crossing
2007 29th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2007White matter fibre tractography is a non-invasive method for reconstructing three dimensional trajectories of fibre pathways. Fast Marching is one of fibre tracking methods in which co-linearity of principal eigenvectors determines the speed of front's evolution. In this algorithm effect of tensor's eigenvalues are not considered.

There has been an increasing interest in the development of unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) in recent decades. As USVs are required to carry out complex missions without any human intervention in various environments, an intelligent path planning algorithm is critical.

A Pulmonary Vascular Segmentation Algorithm of Chest CT Images Based on Fast Marching Method
2018 IEEE International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedicine (BIBM), 2018Pulmonary vascular segmentation plays an important role in lung disease detection. In order to improve the accuracy rate of pulmonary vascular segmentation, a new pulmonary vascular segmentation method based on the fast marching method combined with the gray gradient and threshold is proposed in this paper.

Luminance, colour, and/or texture features may be used, either alone or in combination, for segmentation. In this paper luminance and colour classes are described using the corresponding empirical probability distributions. For texture analysis and characterisation a multichannel scale/orientation decomposition is performed using wavelet frame analysis.

Fast generation of molecular surfaces from 3D data fields with an enhanced “marching cube” algorithm
Journal of Computational Chemistry, 1993AbstractAn improved version of the “marching cubes” algorithm [W. Lorensen and H. Cline, Comp. Graph. 21, (1987)] for the generation of isosurfaces from 3D data fields is presented and applied to molecular surfaces. The new algorithm avoids inconsistent pattern definitions of the original one, which lead to artificial gaps.
