High-Resolution Crustal S-wave Velocity Model and Moho Geometry Beneath the Southeastern Alps: New Insights From the SWATH-D Experiment

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2021
We compiled a dataset of continuous recordings from the temporary and permanent seismic networks to compute the high-resolution 3D S-wave velocity model of the Southeastern Alps, the western part of the external Dinarides, and the Friuli and Venetian ...

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Targeted location of microseismic events based on a 3D heterogeneous velocity model in underground mining.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
The accurate location of induced seismicity is a problem of major interest in the safety monitoring of underground mines. Complexities in the seismic velocity structure, particularly changes in velocity caused by the progression of mining excavations ...

Intelligent Maintenance Review for Robots: Multimodal Information, Deep Diagnosis and Embodied Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review maps the methods to monitor robots’ health by fusing vibration, sound, control signals, vision, force, and oil information with artificial intelligence. It identifies deep learning, transfer learning, digital twins, and physics‐informed models as key methodological pathways enabling earlier diagnosis, safer human–robot collaboration, and ...

A Multilevel Fast Marching Method for the Minimum Time Problem

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Control and Optimization
We introduce a new numerical method to approximate the solutions of a class of stationary Hamilton-Jacobi (HJ) partial differential equations arising from minimum time optimal control problems. We rely on nested grid approximations, and look for the optimal trajectories by using the coarse grid approximations to reduce the search space in fine grids ...

Segmentation of Image Using Watershed and Fast Level set methods

open access: yes, 2020
Technology is proliferating. Many methods are used for medical imaging .The important methods used here are fast marching and level set in comparison with the watershed transform .Since watershed algorithm was applied to an image has over clusters in ...

Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

A numerical well testing method for fractured-vuggy reservoirs based on fast marching method

open access: yesYouqi dizhi yu caishoulu
In fractured-vuggy reservoirs, triple media consisting of fractures, vugs, or pores significantly affects oil and gas flow. However, traditional well testing interpretation methods have been proven to be ineffective in accurately describing the flow ...

Evaluating Visual Realism in Drawing Areas of Interest on UML Diagrams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Areas of interest (AOIs) are defined as an addition to UML diagrams: groups of elements of system architecture diagrams that share some common property. Some methods have been proposed to automatically draw AOIs on UML diagrams.
