Simplifications of the numerical model in the design of bar and diaphragm bracing systems [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Civil Engineering
The topic of transversal roof bracing design was discussed. The analysis was performed in ABAQUS for a part of the steel single-storey building roof consisting of truss girders and purlins. Structure with both diaphragm bracing (trapezoidal sheeting) and

Contribution to the design of bolted angle connection in the steel structures [PDF]

open access: yesFacta Universitatis. Series: Architecture and Civil Engineering, 2004
The paper presents the equations for the determination of the neutral axis position, when it is on the face, that is, on the bearing plate, and for the highest normal tensile stress in the fastener, as well as for the determination of highest and lowest ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

The pyruvate generator is a common phenomenon in mitochondria from different rat and mouse brain regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).

Experimental Comparison of Fastener Implementation Approaches in Fused Deposition Modeling

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This study aims to investigate common fastener implementation methods for parts manufactured with Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). Although fastener applications for FDM manufactured parts are already in use, the effects of these methods on tensile and ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Ubiquitination of secretory granules promotes their crinophagic degradation in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ubiquitination of secretory granules in Drosophila larval salivary glands is a critical molecular trigger for crinophagy, the lysosomal degradation of unreleased, or low‐quality granules. The E3 ubiquitin ligase Cnot4 is recruited to the surface of secretory granules to induce crinophagy.

Regression Method for Rail Fastener Tightness Based on Center-Line Projection Distance Feature and Neural Network

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering
In the railway system, fasteners have the functions of damping, maintaining the track distance, and adjusting the track level. Therefore, routine maintenance and inspection of fasteners are important to ensure the safe operation of track lines. Currently,

Toe Load Detection and Test Verification Based on the Natural Frequency of Fastener Elastic Rod

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
Objective The insufficient toe load of the fastener elastic rod will induce loosening of the surrounding fasteners, aggravate the dynamic response between wheels and rails, affecting the service life of the track components. Compared with the missing and

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells
