Dysregulated fatty acid metabolism in hepatocellular carcinoma.

open access: yesHepatic Oncology, 2016
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most frequent and deadly malignancies worldwide. Studies are urgently needed on its molecular pathogenesis and biological characteristics.

Adenosine A3 receptor antagonists as anti‐tumor treatment in human prostate cancer: an in vitro study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The A3 adenosine receptors (A3ARs) are overexpressed in prostate cancer. AR 292 and AR 357, as A3AR antagonists, are capable of blocking proliferation, modulating the expression of drug transporter genes involved in chemoresistance, ferroptosis, and the hypoxia response, and inducing cell death.

Reinforcement learning for robust dynamic metabolic control [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Dynamic metabolic control can enhance bioprocess flexibility and expand the available optimization degrees of freedom via real-time modulation of metabolic enzyme expression. This allows target metabolic fluxes to be dynamically tuned throughout the process.

Quantification of Bone Fatty Acid Metabolism and Its Regulation by Adipocyte Lipoprotein Lipase

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2017
Adipocytes are master regulators of energy homeostasis. Although the contributions of classical brown and white adipose tissue (BAT and WAT, respectively) to glucose and fatty acid metabolism are well characterized, the metabolic role of adipocytes in ...

SSO and other putative inhibitors of FA transport across membranes by CD36 disrupt intracellular metabolism, but do not affect FA translocation

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2020
Membrane-bound proteins have been proposed to mediate the transport of long-chain FA (LCFA) transport through the plasma membrane (PM). These proposals are based largely on reports that PM transport of LCFAs can be blocked by a number of enzymes and ...

Growth and instability of a phospholipid vesicle in a bath of fatty acids [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Using a microfluidic trap, we study the behavior of individual phospholipid vesicles in contact with fatty acids. We show that spontaneous fatty acids insertion inside the bilayer is controlled by the vesicle size, osmotic pressure difference across the membrane and fatty acids concentration in the external bath. Depending on these parameters, vesicles

Differences in elongation of very long chain fatty acids and fatty acid metabolism between triple-negative and hormone receptor-positive breast cancer

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2017
BackgroundTriple-negative breast cancer (TN) is more aggressive than other subtypes of breast cancer and has a lower survival rate. Furthermore, detailed biological information about the disease is lacking.

Universal Proteomic Signature After Exercise‐Induced Muscle Injury in Muscular Dystrophies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Several neuromuscular disorders (NMDs) are characterized by progressive muscle damage and are marked by the elevation of circulating muscle proteins from activity‐related injury. Despite a diverse array of genetic drivers, many NMDs share similar patterns of exercise intolerance and higher concentrations of muscle injury proteins ...

SsCyp86 modulates Sporisorium scitamineum mating/filamentation and pathogenicity through regulating fatty acid metabolism

open access: yesVirulence
Background Fatty acid metabolism constitutes a significant and intricate biochemical process within microorganisms. Cytochrome P450 (CYP450) enzymes are found in most organisms and occupy a pivotal position in the metabolism of fatty acids.
