Synthesis of Microbial‐Derived Octadecanoids

open access: yesLipids, EarlyView.
C18‐carbon containing dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (e.g., linoleic acid, α‐linolenic acid, and γ‐linolenic acid) are metabolized by bacteria in the gut into oxygenated lipid mediators termed octadecanoids. To study the biological function of these compounds, we report here the chemical synthesis of multiple octadecanoids.

Chemical Ionization Mass Spectrometry: Fundamental Principles, Diverse Applications, and the Latest Technological Frontiers

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The review examines the evolution of chemical ionization mass spectrometry (CI‐MS), a technique developed in 1966 by Field and Munson. CI is a soft‐ionization method that produces more intense molecular ions with less fragmentation than electron ionization (EI).

Analysis of Carbohydrates and Glycoconjugates by Matrix‐Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Mass Spectrometry: An Update for 2023–2024

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The use of MALDI mass spectrometry for the analysis of carbohydrates and glycoconjugates is a well‐established technique and this comprehensive review is the twelfth update of the original article published in 1999 and brings coverage of the literature to the end of 2024.

Prevention of Early Onset of Breast Cancer With Ashwagandha

open access: yesMolecular Carcinogenesis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Prevention of breast cancer is feasible because many risk factors for this malignancy are known (e.g., family history, reproductive factors, etc.). Medicinal plants and/or their bioactive phytochemicals are attractive for the prevention of early onset of breast cancer due to their generally favorable safety profile.

Multi‐Target Pharmacological Mechanisms of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge in Metabolic Syndrome and Cardiovascular Diseases: A Comprehensive Review Based on the Theory of “Same Treatment for Different Diseases”

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge in metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular diseases: multi‐target actions on shared signaling pathways. ABSTRACT Metabolic syndrome (MetS) represents a clinical disorder characterized by the clustering of conditions including obesity, elevated blood sugar levels, and high lipid levels, which are intricately linked to the onset ...

Natural Products Exhibit Therapeutic Potential in Treating Rheumatoid Arthritis by Targeting the PI3K/Akt Signaling Pathway

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
This review summarizes how natural products, mainly including flavonoids, terpenoids, alkaloids, and polyphenols alleviate RA via PI3K/Akt pathway, regulating inflammation, proliferation, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and osteoclast differentiation. The figure was created by Figdraw (https://www.figdraw.com/#/).

Osmotic Remodeling of Extracellular Vesicles for Precision Nanomedicine

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Hypotonic lysis in bidistilled water is used to remodel B lymphocyte–derived extracellular vesicles into cargo‐depleted, structurally preserved nanovesicles. The process reduces intraluminal proteins and nucleic acids, reshapes membrane composition, and enhances tumor‐cell uptake in vitro, while allowing proof‐of‐concept reloading with exogenous agents,

Characterization of the Pore Environments in Covalent Organic Frameworks by Dynamic Spin Probe Exchange

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with alkyl or triethylene glycol pore linings are probed with water‐dissolved nitroxide radicals using CW EPR spectroscopy. Adsorption affinity, local polarity, and radical concentration inside the pores are quantified, revealing hydrogen bonding, dipolar, and π‐π interactions that govern guest binding, which ...

Electrochemical Reductive β‐Arylation and Alkenylation of α‐Branched Acroleins by Primary Amine/Nickel Dual Catalysis

open access: yesTransformative Chemistry, EarlyView.
A synergistic primary amine/nickel catalysis under electrochemical conditions was developed for cathodic β‐arylation and alkenylation of α‐branched acroleins. The reaction proceeds through β‐enaminyl radicals generated by cathodic reduction of an iminium ion allowing smooth coupling with aryl‐ or alkenyl‐Ni(II) species.

Cyanogenic Compounds, Physicochemical Parameters and Metals in Water From Cassava Processing Areas: A Study in the Brazilian Amazon, Using Multivariate Analysis

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the water quality of artesian wells and effluents generated in cassava processing in a rural area of Bragança, Pará, with emphasis on physicochemical parameters, multielement composition, and cyanogenic compounds. The well water presented specific nonconformities, highlighting pH values below the recommended level and high
