Fault-tolerant model predictive control

2010 IEEE 15th Conference on Emerging Technologies & Factory Automation (ETFA 2010), 2010
Model predictive control (MPC) has developed considerably in the last decades both in industry and in academia. This success is due to the fact that MPC is perhaps the most general way of posing the control problem in the time domain. One of the main advantages of MPC is that model uncertainties can be taken explicitly into account and this allows for ...

On realization of fault-tolerant fuzzy controllers

Proceedings 6th IEEE International On-Line Testing Workshop (Cat. No.PR00646), 2002
In this paper, we propose concurrent compensation for fuzzy controllers. The concurrent fault location is executed by observing each sum of two degrees of adjacent membership functions. Instead of the faulty degree in the antecedent part, we employ either 0 or degree of next membership function to the faulty part at the easily calculated abscissa.

Fault Tolerant Control for Uncertain Systems with Parametric Faults

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2006
Abstract A fault tolerant control (FTC) architecture based on active fault diagnosis (AFD) and the YJBK (Youla, Jarb, Bongiorno and Kucera) parameterization is applied in this paper. Based on the FTC architecture, fault tolerant control of uncertain systems with slowly varying parametric faults is investigated.

Fault monitoring and fault tolerant control in distillation columns

2016 21st International Conference on Methods and Models in Automation and Robotics (MMAR), 2016
An investigation of fault tolerant control of distillation columns under faulty sensors and actuators is presented in this work. Real-time sensor and actuator fault detection, propagation and accommodation are all investigated. Dynamic principal components analysis is used to promptly and effectively detect and isolate actuator and sensor faults ...

A fault-tolerant mechanism for simple controllers

1994
There are many industrial controllers where no systematic fault-tolerant mechanisms are included because of cost constraints. This paper addresses that problem by making a proposal for a simple and low-cost fault-tolerant technique, yet very effective, that can be used even in the simplest controllers.

Fault Tolerant Control of EPS System with Sensor Fault

Journal of Circuits, Systems and Computers, 2019
Taking into account the sensors faults, modeling of electric power steering (EPS) behavior improves steering reliability. Such task becomes difficult considering the nonlinearity of EPS systems. Therefore, in order to ensure the good behavior stability of the EPS, it is important to validate such established models on a real system.

Fault-tolerant control of robot servomotors

2011 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2011
The servomotors used in the joints of a manipulator or wheels of a rover in high risk applications, such as space applications, should be capable of continued functional operation even if insulation failure or open-circuit of a winding occur. This paper presents a fault-tolerant (FT) torque controller for brushless motors that can maintain accurate ...
