Fault Tree Analysis Including Component Dependencies

open access: yes
Fault Tree analysis is not only the most common technique used in engineering practice for the estimation of system reliability, but is also a key tool shared between designers, analysts and regulators for safe operation and licensing purposes.

Advances in component fault trees

open access: yes, 2018
Component Fault Trees (CFTs) were invented in 2003 as a compositional extension to fault trees to better reflect the technical architecture of a system in its safety analysis model. Since then, a lot of research has been contributed regarding semantic extensions, evaluation techniques, and tighter linking between system and safety models.

Diagnosis of Faults in Linear Tree Networks

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Computers, 1977
The problem of fault detection and location in tree networks of two-input EXCLUSIVE-OR (EOR) gates is considered. The fault model assumes that an EOR gate can change to any other function of its two inputs except the Equivalence function. An efficient procedure for single fault location is presented.

Machine Learning‐Assisted Inverse Design of Soft and Multifunctional Hybrid Liquid Metal Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A machine learning framework is presented for inverse design of synthesizable multifunctional composites containing both liquid metal and solid inclusions. By integrating physics‐based modeling, data‐driven prediction, and Bayesian optimization, the approach enables intelligent design of experiments to identify optimal compositions and realize these ...

Interface Effects in Ultrathin Silicon on Insulator Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work establishes a systematic framework to discriminate how bulk and interface phenomena affect charge transport in ultrathin P‐doped silicon‐on‐insulator (SOI) films. For Si films below 15 nm, electrical characterization demonstrates that interface states drive charge transport, shifting the metal‐insulator transition (MIT) critical dopant ...
