Safety + AI: A Novel Approach to Update Safety Models Using Artificial Intelligence
Safety-critical systems are becoming larger and more complex to obtain a higher level of functionality. Hence, modeling and evaluation of these systems can be a difficult and error-prone task.

Fault Tree Uncertainty Analysis [PDF]
PresentationFault tree analysis (FTA) is a widely used methodology in the process industries. FTA is used for the development of failure mechanisms, computation of failure frequencies and the determination of the probability of failure on demand of ...

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Analysis on Dynamic Fault Tree Based on Fuzzy Set
In case of fault tree analysis of large complex system, the probability of bottom event in dynamic fault tree is uncertain in some cases. To address the problem, the paper presented a dynamic fault tree analysis method based on fuzzy set computation. The

We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

From Fault Tree to Credit Risk Assessment: An Empirical Attempt [PDF]
Since 80’, fault tree theory has known a great development in industrial systems’ sector. Its first goal is to estimate and model the probability and events combination which could lead a given system to failure.

Dynamic Fault Tree Based on Weibull Distribution
The fault tree analysis is a widely used method for evaluation of systems reliability and safety. Dynamic fault tree (DFT) extend traditional FT by defining additional gates called dynamic gates to model these complex interactions. Markov models are used
