In Vitro Effects of Doxycycline on Replication of Feline Coronavirus

open access: yesPathogens, 2021
Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is a sporadic fatal disease of cats caused by a virulent variant of feline coronavirus (FCoV), referred to as FIP virus (FIPV).

Untersuchung des Einflusses von felinem Interferon-ω auf die Überlebenszeit von Katzen mit feliner infektiöser Peritonitis und der Aussagekraft prognostischer Parameter für die Überlebenszeit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This cumulative doctoral thesis contains 4 publications. Aim of the first study was to evaluate the influence of feline interferon-ω on the survival time and quality of life of cats with feline infectious peritonitis.

Suspect feline infectious peritonitis pada kucing

open access: yes, 2018
Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) adalah penyakit menular akibat infeksi corona virus dan dapat berakibat kematian. Diagnosa FIP dijumpai pada seekor kucing  dengan gejala anoreksia, lemas, perut membesar dan diare.

Successful Management of Septic Splenitis in an Abyssinian Cat

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
A 3.5‐year‐old female neutered Abyssinian with pyrexia of unknown origin and splenomegaly was diagnosed with septic splenitis. Complete resolution of clinical signs followed splenectomy and antibiotic treatment with pradofloxacin. Septic splenitis, although uncommon, should be considered as a differential diagnosis in patients with splenomegaly and ...

Antigenic relationship of the feline infectious peritonitis virus to coronaviruses of other species [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Virology, 1978
Utilizing the direct and indirect fluorescent antibody procedure, the antigenic relationship of the feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV) to 7 other human and animal coronaviruses was studied. FIPV was found to be closely related to transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV) of swine.

First report of a Buchananella hordeovulneris–associated pyothorax in a feline leukaemia virus‐positive cat

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, May 2026.
Abstract A 10‐month‐old, neutered, male domestic shorthair cat with outdoor access was presented with a thoracic wound, severe respiratory distress, cachexia, dehydration and pleural effusion. Imaging confirmed bilateral pyothorax. Haematology showed marked neutrophilia with left shift, mild anaemia, thrombocytopenia and lymphocytosis.

Feline Infectious Peritonitis: A Challenging Diagnostic and Therapeutic Labyrinth

open access: yesAnimals
Feline coronaviruses (FCoVs) are ubiquitous pathogens, exhibiting high prevalence across feline populations worldwide. Although the virulent mutated biotype feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV) is observed in only a small percentage of cats, it ...

Coronavirus Nsp3 Hijacks CLTC to Modulate Autophagosome Nucleation for Promoting DMV Formation and Viral Replication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 24, 27 April 2026.
In wild‐type cells, FIPV infection recruits CLTC to nsp3, facilitates DMV biogenesis and block autophagic flux to promote viral replication. CLTC knockout impairs autophagosome nucleation by reducing Beclin1–ATG14 complex expression. This disrupts the formation of autophagic precursor membranes, thereby preventing their hijacking by nsp3 for DMV ...

Genetic determinants of pathogenesis by feline infectious peritonitis virus

open access: yesVeterinary Immunology and Immunopathology, 2011
Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is a fatal, immune-augmented, and progressive viral disease of cats associated with feline coronavirus (FCoV). Viral genetic determinants specifically associated with FIPV pathogenesis have not yet been discovered. Viral gene signatures in the spike, non-structural protein 3c, and membrane of the coronavirus genome ...

Genetic Characteristics and Research Progress of Feline Coronavirus

open access: yesShiyan dongwu yu bijiao yixue
Feline coronavirus (FCoV) is classified into two biotypes: feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV) and feline enteric coronavirus (FECV). FIPV and FECV might evolve and mutate via genetic recombination and mutation, leading to novel subtypes and ...
