Folic acid conjugated ferritins as photosensitizer carriers for photodynamic therapy.
We coupled folic acid as a tumour targeting ligand to the surface of ferritins and loaded them with ZnF16Pc. The resulting nanoconjugates can efficiently hone in on 4T1 tumours in vivo, and, with photoirradiation, leading to suppressed tumour growth and ...

Glutaredoxin (Grx) 3 proteins contain a thioredoxin domain and one to three class II Grx domains. These proteins play a crucial role in iron homeostasis in eukaryotic cells. In human Grx3, at least one of the two Grx domains, together with the thioredoxin domain, is essential for its function in iron metabolism.

In this research, a rat model of asthma was created using OVA, and polydatin served as an intervention. By inhibiting ferroautophagy mediated by NCOA4 and averting ferroptosis, polydatin has been demonstrated to reduce asthma. This work presents new ideas for investigating the mechanism of polydatin's ability to alleviate asthma, in addition to ...

Tyr25, Tyr58 and Trp133 of Escherichia coli bacterioferritin transfer electrons between iron in the central cavity and the ferroxidase centre [PDF]
Ferritins are 24meric proteins that overcome problems of toxicity, insolubility and poor bioavailability of iron in all types of cells by storing it in the form of a ferric mineral within their central cavities.

BCS1L‐Associated Disease: 5′‐UTR Variant Shifts the Phenotype Towards Axonal Neuropathy
ABSTRACT Objectives To investigate the consequences of a pathogenic missense variant (c.838C>T; p.L280F) and a 5′‐UTR regulatory variant (c.‐122G>T) in BCS1L on disease pathogenesis and to understand how regulatory variants influence disease severity and clinical presentation.

A Cytosolic Iron Chaperone that Delivers Iron to Ferritin [PDF]
Ferritins are the main iron storage proteins found in animals, plants and bacteria. The capacity to store iron in ferritin is essential for life in mammals, but the mechanism by which cytosolic iron is delivered to ferritin is unknown.
