Hepatic molecular conversion and detoxification of ferritin iron in adult lampreys (Geotria australis), following natural and induced iron loading [PDF]
Weekly intramuscular injections of 3 mg of iron as horse spleen ferritin into adult Geotria australis over 10 weeks, resulted in a progressive increase in that form of iron in the serum.

Ferritin heavy chain Is the host factor responsible for HCV-Induced inhibition of apoB-100 production and is required for efficient viral infection [PDF]
Hepatic fat export occurs by apolipoprotein B-100-containing lipoprotein production, whereas impaired production leads to liver steatosis. Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is associated to dysregulation of apoB-100 secretion and steatosis; however, the ...

Structural and functional relationship of mammalian and nematode ferritins
Ferritin is a unique buffering protein in iron metabolism. By storing or releasing iron in a tightly controlled manner, it prevents the negative effects of free ferrous ions on biomolecules in all domains of life – from bacteria to mammals.

The Irr and RirA proteins participate in a complex regulatory circuit and act in concert to modulate bacterioferritin expression in Ensifer meliloti 1021 [PDF]
In this work we found that the bfr gene of the rhizobial species Ensifer meliloti, encoding a bacterioferritin iron storage protein, is involved in iron homeostasis and the oxidative stress response. This gene is located downstream of and overlapping the

MagPiezo enables wireless activation of endogenous Piezo1 channels without genetic modification using 19 nm magnetic nanoparticles and low‐intensity magnetic fields. It generates torque forces at the piconewton scale to trigger mechanotransduction in endothelial cells, standing as a novel platform to interrogate and manipulate Piezo1 activity in vitro.

Ferritin‐doped hybrid nanoparticles triggered accurate tumor‐specific hemorrhage for enhanced in situ photothermal therapy and evoked anti‐tumor immunity. Notably, HFn/GA‐Fe specifically induced tumor hemorrhage 12 h after intravenous injection, resulting in visible color darkening. Through photoacoustic imaging, tumor vessels could be clearly observed
