Microeconomics of nitrogen fertilization in boreal carbon forestry [PDF]
Nitrogen fertilization of boreal forests is investigated in terms of microeconomics, as a tool for carbon sequestration. The effects of nitrogen fertilization's timing on the return rate on capital and the expected value of the timber stock are investigated within a set of semi-fertile, spruce-dominated boreal stands, using an inventory-based growth ...

Miniaturized Devices for On‐the‐Spot Generation of Small‐Diameter Vascular Grafts
An intracorporeal extrusion device is developed for on‐the‐spot generation of vascular grafts with tunable diameters spanning from 1 to 6 mm. The device uses biomimetic polymers and light, to promptly obtaining biocompatible and high‐burst pressure‐resistant grafts.

Comparison of attention models and post-hoc explanation methods for embryo stage identification: a case study [PDF]
An important limitation to the development of AI-based solutions for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is the black-box nature of most state-of-the-art models, due to the complexity of deep learning architectures, which raises potential bias and fairness issues.

Endometriosis and In Vitro Fertilization
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is an established option for the management of infertility in patients with endometriosis, though there remains ongoing debate around the extent to which endometriosis may compromise IVF treatment success, in which fertilization and preimplantation embryo development occur outside the pelvis.

An excess of reactive oxygen species (ROS) can cause cell damage, and an accumulation of damage leads to cellular dysfunction resulting in a variety of diseases including abnormal aging, cancer, diabetes, and inflammation. In this study, feruloyl oligosaccharides (FOs) were obtained by solid‐state fermentation using wheat bran, and antioxidant activity
