How Does Acute Blood Flow Restriction Resistance Training Influence Free Fatty Acids in Obese Individuals?

open access: yesQuality in Sport
Background FFAs play an important role in the obesity management. Recent studies suggest that BFR training may also influence metabolic responses, including the regulation of FFAs in the bloodstream.

Inert Catalytic Sites Unlocked by Micropollutants for Rapid Water Decontamination with Near‐Complete Chemical Utilization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Micropollutants can act as molecular triggers that activate a newly designed and chemically inert Fenton‐like PKU‐24 catalyst for on‐demand singlet oxygen generation from peroxymonosulfate (PMS), enabling nearly complete peroxide utilization and selective micropollutant removal from complex real‐world wastewater.

Apolipoprotein F is reduced in humans with steatosis and controls plasma triglyceride‐rich lipoprotein metabolism

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Hepatic APOF transcript levels correlate inversely with plasma TG and hepatic steatosis in humans. ApoF expression in mice promotes VLDL‐TG production and lipoprotein remnant clearance in mice. Abstract Background NAFLD affects nearly 25% of the global population. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the most common cause of death among patients with NAFLD,

Membrane-Located Expression of Thioesterase From Acinetobacter baylyi Enhances Free Fatty Acid Production With Decreased Toxicity in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
It has been previously reported that photosynthetic production of extracellular free fatty acids (FFAs) in cyanobacteria was realized by thioesterases (TesA) mediated hydrolysis of fatty acyl-ACP in cytosol and excretion of the FFA outside of the cell ...

Saturated free fatty acids induce placental trophoblast lipoapoptosis.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
IntroductionObesity during pregnancy increases the risk for maternal complications like gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and maternal inflammation. Maternal obesity also increases the risk of childhood obesity, intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR ...

ZnO/ionic liquid catalyzed biodiesel production from renewable and waste lipids as feedstocks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A new protocol for biodiesel production is proposed, based on a binary ZnO/TBAI (TBAI = tetrabutylammonium iodide) catalytic system. Zinc oxide acts as a heterogeneous, bifunctional Lewis acid/base catalyst, while TBAI plays the role of phase transfer ...

Influence of FFA Activities on Critical Thinking Skills in Texas Three-Star FFA Chapters [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Education, 2014
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of FFA activities on critical thinking skills of Texas FFA members in three-star FFA chapters. This descriptive study was conducted in eight purposively selected three-star FFA chapters throughout Texas. Three-star chapters are those chapters who have emerged as outstanding programs within the

A Novel Function of Nonadecanoic Acid in Regulating Glucose Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies the odd‐chain fatty acid C19:0 as an endogenous ligand of GPR120 that promotes glucose homeostasis via Gαq signaling. In obesity, elevated palmitic acid suppresses endogenous C19:0 production through a miRNA–PPARα–HACL1 pathway, offering a promising direction for understanding the role of OCFAs in human health.
