Lysosomal Sequestration Impairs the Activity of the Preclinical FGFR Inhibitor PD173074

open access: yesCells, 2018
Knowledge of intracellular pharmacokinetics of anticancer agents is imperative for understanding drug efficacy as well as intrinsic and acquired cellular resistance mechanisms.

Fibroblast growth factor receptor inhibition synergizes with paclitaxel and doxorubicin in endometrial cancer cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
OBJECTIVE:\ud The fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family of signaling molecules has been associated with chemoresistance and poor prognosis in a number of cancer types, including lung, breast, ovarian, prostate, and head and neck carcinomas.

Translophagy—A potential link between autophagy impairment and translational errors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neurodegenerative diseases are characterised by the accumulation of abnormal proteins and protein aggregates, but their origin often remains unknown. We propose that selective autophagy removes damaged protein‐making machinery, preventing errors during protein synthesis.

FGF receptor inhibitor BGJ398 partially rescues osteoarthritis-like phenotype in older high molecular weight FGF2 transgenic mice via multiple mechanisms

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
We have used Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF2) transgenic mice as experimental models for human X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH)-related degenerative osteoarthritis (OA) to investigate the pathogenesis of the disease and to test potential ...

Maintenance Therapy with Pembrolizumab after Platinum-Doublet Chemotherapy Leading to Hyperprogression in a Patient with Metastatic Bladder Cancer

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Oncology Nursing, 2021
The anti-programmed cell death receptor 1 (anti-PD-1) immunotherapy has been recommended in several treatment scenarios of metastatic urothelial cancer (UC), including as a maintenance therapy after first-line chemotherapy.

Antitumor Activity of a Novel Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor Inhibitor for Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesThe American Journal of Pathology, 2019
Fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2) might have an important role in the pathogenesis and biology of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). We examined FGFR expression in CCA tumor specimens obtained from patients and CCA cell lines, and then determined the effects of the novel FGFR inhibitor, derazantinib (DZB; formally, ARQ 087), which is currently in ...

Metastatic niche shaped by host factors influences disseminated cancer cell fate

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metastasis is shaped not only by cancer cells but also by the environments they encounter. This review explores how factors such as aging, diet, the microbiome, lifestyle, and environmental exposures remodel organ‐specific niches in the lung, liver, bone, and brain, influencing where metastatic cells survive, remain dormant, or grow, and ultimately ...

Neutralization of the PTX3/CD44 axis suppresses TGF‐β1 signaling in kidney fibrosis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study investigates how the PTX3/CD44 axis promotes kidney fibrosis by activating TGF‐β1 signaling. We demonstrate that the neutralizing antibody WHC‐001 effectively inhibits this pathway, suppressing myofibroblast activation and partial epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT).

Case report: a case of lung squamous cell carcinoma with a novel FGFR3-IER5L fusion mutation responding to anlotinib

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
Lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) is the second most common pathological type of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, compared with lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), the incidence of driver gene mutations in LUSC is relatively lower and treatment ...
