Exosome‐Mediated Lectin Pathway and Resistin‐MIF‐AA Metabolism Axis Drive Immune Dysfunction in Immune Thrombocytopenia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 10, March 13, 2025.
Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune disorder marked by reduced platelet levels and heightened susceptibility to bleeding resulting from augmented autologous platelet destruction and diminished thrombopoiesis. It is found that the lectin pathway of the complement system, resistin, MIF, and AA metabolism may serve as promising targets for ...

Extensive Basal Level Activation of Complement Mannose-Binding Lectin-Associated Serine Protease-3: Kinetic Modeling of Lectin Pathway Activation Provides Possible Mechanism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Serine proteases (SPs) are typically synthesized as precursors, termed proenzymes or zymogens, and the fully active form is produced via limited proteolysis by another protease or by autoactivation.

Urinary Biomarkers Associated With Pathogenic Pathways Reflecting Histologic Findings in Lupus Nephritis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Volume 77, Issue 3, Page 298-310, March 2025.
Objective There is a pressing need to understand the pathogenesis of histologic findings and identify the biomarkers for predicting the histologic severity in lupus nephritis (LN). This study aimed to identify the pathogenic signal pathway and elucidate urinary biomarkers for predicting the presence or severity of histologic findings in LN.

Human ficolin‐2 recognition versatility extended: An update on the binding of ficolin‐2 to sulfated/phosphated carbohydrates [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 2014
Ficolin‐2 has been reported to bind to DNA and heparin, but the mechanism involved has not been thoroughly investigated. X‐ray studies of the ficolin‐2 fibrinogen‐like domain in complex with several new ligands now show that sulfate and phosphate groups are prone to bind to the S3 binding site of the protein.

Screening for immune-potentiating antigens from hepatocellular carcinoma patients after radiofrequency ablation by serum proteomic analysis

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2018
Background Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) can not only effectively kill hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tumour cells but also release tumour antigens that can provoke an immune response.

The Significance of MAPK Signaling Pathway in the Diagnosis and Subtype Classification of Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 8, Issue 1, March 2025.
We have developed a prognostic nomogram model that utilizes four genes (KRAS, JUN, RAP1B, and TNF) that are implicated in the hub MAPK signaling pathway to predict the prevalence of IDD patients. Additionally, we validated the expression levels of these genes in clinical samples.

Ferroptosis in Pulmonary Disease and Lung Cancer: Molecular Mechanisms, Crosstalk Regulation, and Therapeutic Strategies

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ferroptosis, a cell death mode marked by iron accumulation and lipid peroxidation, plays a vital role in lung diseases and cancer. Its interaction with immune cells in the tumor microenvironment offers new therapeutic opportunities for lung cancer and pulmonary diseases .

Potential mechanisms implied in tick infection by arboviruses and their transmission to vertebrate hosts

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, Volume 20, Issue 2, Page 315-330, March 2025.
We summarize the recent progress in understanding defense mechanisms in specific tissues or sites that are encountered by arboviruses and discuss their possible roles in virus infection or transmission. Abstract Ticks can transmit many pathogens, including arboviruses, to their vertebrate hosts.

Plasma levels of H‐ and L‐ficolin are increased in axial spondyloarthritis: improvement of disease identification

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Immunology, 2020
Axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) is a chronic inflammatory disease that primarily affects the axial skeleton. A predominance of innate versus adaptive immune responses have been reported in axSpA, indicating a prominent autoinflammatory component of the ...
