Summary Jasmonic acid (JA) plays a critical role in antiviral defence in rice, where viral infection activates JA signalling by degrading Jasmonate ZIM domain (JAZ) proteins, thereby releasing transcription factors (TFs) to drive JA‐mediated defence gene expression. While the JA‐responsive TF OsMYC2 has been extensively studied in rice, the involvement

Reference gene selection for gene expression studies using RT-qPCR in virus-infected planthoppers
Background Planthoppers not only severely affect crops by causing mechanical damage when feeding but are also vectors of several plant virus species. The analysis of gene expression in persistently infected planthoppers might unveil the molecular basis ...

Occurrence and integrated control of major rice diseases in China
Rice is constantly under threat from a variety of pathogens. This review highlights the major diseases affecting rice in China, including three fungal diseases, two bacterial diseases, two viral diseases, and one nematode. The review also proposes future directions for an integrated approach to control these significant rice diseases.

In this study, a novel plant dwarfing index (PDI) was developed to quantitatively evaluate rice resistance to rice black‐streaked dwarf virus disease, providing a more accurate assessment tool than traditional incidence rate‐based method for rice breeding programs and disease resistance research. Abstract Rice black‐streaked dwarf virus disease (RBSDVD)

Taxonomic characteristics of fijiviruses based on nucleotide sequences of the oat sterile dwarf virus genome [PDF]
Sequence determination of full-length cDNA clones of genomic segments 7- 10 (S7-S10) of oat sterile dwarf fijivirus (OSDV) revealed that the 5' and 3' ends of the plus strands of these segments had the same conserved terminal sequences, 5' AACGAAAAA and ...

High viral load in the planthopper vector Delphacodes kuscheli (Hemiptera: Delphacidae) is associated with successful transmission of Mal de Río Cuarto virus [PDF]
Delphacodes kuscheli Fennah (Hemiptera: Delphacidae) is the main natural vector of Mal de Rio Cuarto virus (family Reoviridae, genus Fijivirus, MRCV), which infects different gramineae and causes the most important maize (Zea mays L.) disease in ...
