Reducing the fine-tuning of gauge-mediated SUSY breaking [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Despite their appealing features, models with gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking (GMSB) typically present a high degree of fine-tuning, due to the initial absence of the top trilinear scalar couplings, $A_t=0$.

Fine-Tuning S1P Therapeutics

open access: yesChemistry & Biology, 2012
Sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor-1 (S1P(1)), a novel therapeutic target for multiple sclerosis, regulates lymphocyte trafficking, heart rate, and vascular function. The discovery of NIBR-0213, a competitive antagonist for S1P(1) that inhibits autoimmune inflammation while sparing bradycardia (Quancard et al., in this issue of Chemistry & Biology ...

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Zasada szczególnego dostrojenia w kontekście układów z chaosem deterministycznym

open access: yesZagadnienia Filozoficzne w Nauce, 2008
From the beginning of the deterministic chaos research, the unpredictability has been its central theme. Interesting questions arise here: What are the consequences of chaos for the fine tuned processes? Are there fine tuning systems in reality?

Fine-Tuned of Necessity? [PDF]

open access: yesRes Philosophica, 2018
This paper seeks to explicate and analyze an alternative response to fine-tuning arguments from those that are typically given—namely, design or brute contingency. The response I explore is based on necessity, the necessitarian response. After showing how necessity blocks the argument, I explicate the reply I claim necessitarians can give and suggest ...

Targeting p38α in cancer: challenges, opportunities, and emerging strategies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
p38α normally regulates cellular stress responses and homeostasis and suppresses malignant transformation. In cancer, however, p38α is co‐opted to drive context‐dependent proliferation and dissemination. p38α also supports key functions in cells of the tumor microenvironment, including fibroblasts, myeloid cells, and T lymphocytes.
