ABSTRACT Pathogens commonly secrete effectors into host cells to facilitate invasion. In the host ubiquitin‐proteasome system (UPS), E3 ubiquitin ligases often target pathogen effectors for degradation, thereby enhancing immune responses. In turn, pathogen effectors frequently disrupt E3 ligase function to promote virulence. However, it remains largely

Long-term application of fertilizers on chemical and biological properties of an Alfisol [PDF]
A long term fertilizer experiment (30 years) at Bengaluru had been started during 1986 with eleven treat-ments and four replications in an Alfisol on finger millet (Elusine coracana) maize (Zea mays) cropping sequence.

ABSTRACT Pathogen infection drives plant community structure and constrains global agricultural productivity. Silicon (Si) improves resistance to abiotic and herbivory stress, particularly in grasses, but relatively little attention has addressed Si‐mediated resistance to pathogens, nor has it tested how this varies according to the type of plant and ...

'Rice,' 'sorghum,' 'pearl millet' and 'finger millet' in Nilo-Saharan
This study overviews the geographical distribution of the terms for four major types of crops cultivated in Africa, ‘rice,’ ‘sorghum,’ ‘pearl millet’ and ‘finger millet’ in Nilo-Saharan languages. Most Nilo-Saharan languages lack a native term for ‘rice,’ but a number of languages attest a loanword from Arabic or Swahili.

Multivariate trait profiling and genetic diversity in a global foxtail millet germplasm panel
Four elite foxtail millet groups discovered from 260 accessions: perfect for breeding climate‐resilient, high‐yielding dual‐purpose crops. Abstract Foxtail millet (Setaria italica L.), known for its climate resilience and dual‐purpose utility, is underutilized in breeding programs despite its agricultural potential.

Stable expression of mtlD gene imparts multiple stress tolerance in finger millet.
Finger millet is susceptible to abiotic stresses, especially drought and salinity stress, in the field during seed germination and early stages of seedling development. Therefore developing stress tolerant finger millet plants combating drought, salinity

Insider/Outsider/Transsiders of Transnational Migration
ABSTRACT Migration is individually and collectively a challenging but also a transformative praxis and process. In my proposal, I present these in the context of transnational migration of two multigenerational families whose pioneers originally migrated from Turkey to Germany.

Abstract A lack of consensus remains on whether normobaric hypoxia (NH) and hypobaric hypoxia (HH) may differentially impact physiological factors affecting cerebrovascular regulation, particularly with an additional strenuous exercise component. We sought to compare the acute effects of NH and HH on global cerebral blood flow (gCBF) at an altitude ...
