IDENTIFICATION OF SOME PARASITES OF FRESHWATER FISHES OF ZANJAN PROVINCE, NORTHWEST IRAN

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 2005
Fish parasites were investigated in Zanjan Province, fishes caught during September 2002 to August 2003. We used cast nets to sample a total of 15-5fish specimens in five stations including Sohrein, Hasan Abdal, Khandagthloo, Sojasrood and Ghezel Uzoon.

Parasite spill-back from domestic hosts may induce an Allee effect in wildlife hosts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The exchange of native pathogens between wild and domesticated animals can lead to novel disease dynamics. A simple model reveals that the spill-back of native parasites\ud from domestic to wild hosts may cause a demographic Allee effect.

Does the anaesthetic influence behavioural transmission of the monogenean Gyrodactylus gasterostei Glaser, 1974 off the host? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The aim of this study was to investigate the use of the anaesthetic 2-phenoxyethanol on the transmission factors of gyrodactylid and to ascertain how this may affect in the colonisation of new hosts using the Gyrodactylus gasterostei Glaser, 1974 ...

Injectable Stimuli‐Responsive Amphiphilic Hydrogel for Rapid Hemostasis, Robust Tissue Adhesion, and Controlled Drug Delivery in Trauma and Surgical Care

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Fast‐acting hydrogel seals bleeding wounds as the illustrated injectable, pH‐responsive network rapidly gels in situ to stop hemorrhage, adhere strongly to wet tissue, and release antibiotics in a controlled, pH‐dependent manner. The material withstands high pressures, shows excellent biocompatibility, and degrades safely, offering a versatile platform

CORE: Cholesterol Altered Lipid Nanoparticles for Splenic Expression of mRNA Payloads

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this paper researchers introduce CORE LNPs, a new class of lipid nanoparticles engineered to redirect mRNA expression away from the liver and into the spleen, a key immune organ. By combining chemical design with computational tools, they created cholesterol analogs that enable precise spleen‐targeted expression, providing greater applications for ...

Parasites Inventory in Freshwater and Seawater fish at Fish Quarantine Center and Quality Control of Fisheries Product in Surabaya II

open access: yesJournal of Aquaculture Science, 2019
One disease that often attacts fish is a group of parasites or parasitic diseases, parasites are not only dangerous because they are related to their activities, but also trigger the emergence of other pathogenic organisms and cause infections. Therefore,

Evidence for cryptic speciation in directly transmitted Gyrodactylid parasites of Trinidadian guppies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Cryptic species complexes are common among parasites, which tend to have large populations and are subject to rapid evolution. Such complexes may arise through host-parasite co-evolution and/or host switching.

Model‐Driven Optimization of Subcutaneous Polymer Prodrugs Achieves Cancer Remission in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) model was developed to evaluate multiple dosing regimens for subcutaneously administered water‐soluble polymer prodrug for cancer therapy. The model enabled prediction of in vivo performance and contributed to the optimization of anticancer efficacy.

Survey of intestinal parasites of Neogobius bathybius in south-western coasts of the Caspian Sea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Neogobius bathybious fish were caught in south-western coastal waters of the Caspian Sea, from Anzali to Zibakenar, by bottom trawl. Fish specimens numbering 97 were examined for intestinal parasites and prevalence, intensity and dominance were ...

Soft Ionic and Electronic Triboelectric Nanogenerators: Toward Attachable and Implantable Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides an overview of triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG)–based biomedical applications by classifying studies into electronic and ionic systems across attachable and implantable platforms. It summarizes key material choices, device structures, and working mechanisms that characterize current TENG‐based research, and outlines six future ...
