A comparative analysis of cooked smoked cockerel products derived from male layer-type chickens (Lohmann Brown Classic hybrid) and dual-purpose cocks (based on Bresse Gauloise) [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
Breeding of chickens is divided in two categories: meat production with focus on the males, and egg production – targeting the females. Culling of male layer-type chickens is a long-standing practice but is now ban some European countries.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Sex-specific growth patterns of Coptodon zillii : a comparative evaluation of nonlinear growth models using AICc

open access: yesBeni-Suef University Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences
Background This study aimed to accurately estimate the growth of Coptodon zillii by comparatively evaluating six nonlinear growth models using the corrected Akaike Information Criterion (AICc), Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC), ΔAIC (difference in ...

Impact of improved systems on rice and common carp Cyprinus carpio multitrophic tropical aquaculture, Antananarivo, Madagascar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Flooded rice fields are ecosystems favorable to the growth and production of many aquatic organisms. They can even play a major role in the feeding and nutrition of local communities, as a source of self-recruiting species or by supporting the production

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Nassau grouper (Epinephelus striatus) spawning aggregations: hydroacoustic surveys and geostatistical analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
With the near extinction of many spawning aggregations of large grouper and snapper throughout the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, and tropical Atlantic, we need to provide baselines for their conservation.
