An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Disturbance Observer-Based Fixed-Time Sliding-Mode Control for Electromechanical Actuators

open access: yesActuators
Electromechanical actuators play a pivotal role in aerospace servo systems; however, their high-precision tracking performance is frequently compromised by external disturbances and system nonlinearities.

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Fixed-Time Disturbance Rejection Attitude Control for a Dual-System Hybrid UAV

open access: yesDrones
The hybrid unmanned aerial vehicle combines the vertical take-off and landing and hover abilities of rotary-wing UAVs with the high-speed cruise and long-endurance capabilities of fixed-wing UAVs, expanding the flight envelope and application areas.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Adaptive fixed-time fuzzy containment control for uncertain nonlinear multiagent systems with unmeasurable states

open access: yesScientific Reports
This paper addresses the adaptive fixed-time fuzzy containment control for uncertain nonlinear multiagent systems, where the states and nonlinear functions are not feasible for the controller design.

Robust fixed-time flight controller for a dual-system convertible UAV in the cruise mode

open access: yesDefence Technology
This paper investigates the attitude tracking control problem for the cruise mode of a dual-system convertible unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the presence of parameter uncertainties, unmodeled uncertainties and wind disturbances.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.
