Hydrodynamic theory of premixed flames propagating in closed vessels: flame speed and Markstein lengths

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics
A hydrodynamic theory of premixed flame propagation within closed vessels is developed assuming the flame is much thinner than all other fluid dynamic lengths. In this limit, the flame is confined to a surface separating the unburned mixture from burned combustion products, and propagates at a speed determined from the analysis of its internal ...

Aerodynamic properties of turbulent combustion fields [PDF]

open access: yes
Flow fields involving turbulent flames in premixed gases under a variety of conditions are modeled by the use of a numerical technique based on the random vortex method to solve the Navier-Stokes equations and a flame propagation algorithm to trace the ...

Combustion in thermonuclear supernova explosions

open access: yes, 2017
Type Ia supernovae are associated with thermonuclear explosions of white dwarf stars. Combustion processes convert material in nuclear reactions and release the energy required to explode the stars.

Molten‐Salt‐Mediated Chemical Looping Oxidative Dehydrogenation of Ethane with In‐Situ Carbon Capture and Utilization

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
A sustainable alternative to steam cracking, the molten‐salt‐mediated oxidative dehydrogenation (MM‐ODH) of ethane (C2H6) in Li2CO3‐Na2CO3‐K2CO3 (LNK) couples thermal cracking with melt‐mediated CO2 capture to realize commercially competitive C2H4 and CO yields. LNK composition strongly influences MM‐ODH process outcomes.

Study on the shock wave and flame propagation characteristics of gas explosion in multi-branch tunnel network

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
To study the explosion shock wave propagation law and flame propagation mechanism within a multibranch complex tunnel network, we built a multibranch complex pipeline experimental system consisting of parallel and angular branches.

ZnO‐Coated Silicon Oxide Nano‐Anode: Synergistic Enhancement of Cycling and Thermal Stability of Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Lithium‐ion battery anodes that maintain good performance and excellent stability under high temperature conditions. Silicon oxide (SiO) has great potential as a high‐capacity anode for lithium‐ion batteries, but its practical use is limited by excessive volume expansion (>200%) and rapid capacity fade, especially at high temperatures.

Effect of inert gas injection parameters on explosion suppression of H2-CH4 mixtures

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua
To investigate the effect of inert gas injection parameters on the explosion characteristics of H2-CH4 mixtures, experiments were carried out in a horizontal pipeline to study the suppression of H2-CH4 mixture explosions by N2 and CO2.
