Interfacial Solvent Molecular Engineering via High‐Safety Dense Separators for High‐Rate Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
The dense PPS‐separator prevents thermal runaway by allowing electron transfer through the steel needle during penetration, while the residual electrolyte enables brief ion migration and Joule heating, causing rapid electrolyte vaporization, collapse of the ion transport network, and a sharp drop in ionic conductivity.

Opium trade and use during the Late Bronze Age: Organic residue analysis of ceramic vessels from the burials of Tel Yehud, Israel

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Organic residue analysis was conducted on various vessels from burials at Tel Yehud, Israel. The analyses led to new reliable evidence for the presence of opioid alkaloids and their decomposition products. This research revitalizes a decades‐old discussion on the presence and function of the opium trade across a cultural region of utmost ...

Modeling of hydrogen-enriched natural gas on flame speed propagation

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series
Abstract This study investigates the effects of hydrogen addition on the laminar flame speed of natural gas using computational simulations performed with Cantera. The calculated laminar flame speed of hydrogen-enriched natural gas mixtures was simulated across a range of equivalence ratios (0.6-2) and hydrogen fractions (0-25% by volume)

The Remarkable Deaths of 9 - 11 Solar Mass Stars

open access: yes, 2015
The post-helium burning evolution of stars from 7 to 11 solar masses is complicated by the lingering effects of degeneracy and off-center ignition. Here stars in this mass range are studied using a standard set of stellar physics.

Rapid Targeted Repair of the Solid Electrolyte Interphase via a Hybrid Ester‐Ether Solvation Strategy for Stable Sodium Anodes

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
An ester‐ether hybrid solvation electrolyte is designed for targeted repair of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) on sodium anode. Preferential decomposition of the confined ester component at defect sites rapidly forms a robust composite SEI, effectively suppressing dendrites.
