Treatment of a Large Cohort of Childhood Chronic Noninfectious Uveitis in a Multicentric Large Study: Adalimumab Versus Methotrexate as First‐Line Therapy

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Treatment of childhood chronic idiopathic uveitis (cCIU) is predominantly based on studies in juvenile idiopathic arthritis–associated uveitis and expert opinion. Our aim was to report the treatment outcomes of our cohort of cCIU. Methods Retrospective multicenter study involving the rheumatology and ophthalmology units at Florence, Italy ...

Magnetic Activity in M-type Stars Based on LAMOST DR11 and TESS Observations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
We have used 898,351 M-type stellar spectra released by Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope DR11 to calculate the equivalent width of the Ca II infrared triplet (IRT) lines, the residual chromospheric emission, and the parameter ${R}

FLARES ON A Bp STAR [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2009
Two large X-ray flares have been reported from the direction of a magnetic B2p star (σ Ori E). Sanz-Forcada et al. have suggested that the flares did not occur on the B2p star but on a companion of late spectral type. A star which is a candidate for a late-type flare star near σ Ori E has recently been identified by Bouy et al.

Validation of International Classification of Diseases Code–Based Case Definitions of Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor–Associated Inflammatory Arthritis From Administrative Health Data

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) for cancer can lead to immune‐related adverse events, including ICI‐associated inflammatory arthritis (ICI‐IA). There are no validated International Classification of Diseases (ICD) code–based case definitions for ICI‐IA.

The Kinematic Signature of the Warp and Waves in the Milky Way Disk

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Using over 170,000 red clump (RC) stars selected from LAMOST and APOGEE, we conduct a detailed analysis of the stellar V _Z as a function of L _Z (or R _g ) across different ϕ bins for various disk populations.

Flares on Mira stars?

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1991
Fourteen cases of flares reported on Mira type stars have been collected. These flares typically have an amplitude of over half a magnitude, a rise time of minutes, and a duration of tens of minutes. Nine of the 11 stars represent a normal cross section of the Mira population, while the remaining two are in symbiotic systems (CH Cyg and RX Pup).

Immune Complexes Shape the Pathogenicity of Autoantibodies in Systemic Autoimmune Diseases: Insights From an FcγRIIIA‐Reporter Assay

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Immune complexes (ICs), formed by autoantigen and autoantibody, play a pathogenic role in systemic autoimmune diseases through stimulation of Fcγ receptors (FcγR). However, studies investigating bioactivity of circulating ICs across various diseases remain limited.

Role of Nonthermal Processes in the Quiescent and Active Millimeter Spectrum of a Young M Dwarf

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Millimeter (mm) emission from F-M dwarfs (cool stars) primarily traces chromospheric activity, with thermal emission thought to dominate in quiescence. Despite the high chromospheric activity, the quiescent mm spectral fluence (mm- S ( ν )) of young (1 ...

Repeating Nuclear Transients From Repeating Partial Tidal Disruption Events

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Extragalactic nuclear transients that exhibit repeating outbursts can be modeled as the repeated dynamical interaction between bound stars and supermassive black holes (SMBHs). A subset of these transients, with recurrence timescales of months‐to‐years, have been explained as accretion flares from the repeated tidal stripping of a star by an ...

Hidden No More: Spotlight on Tidal Disruption Events in Active Galactic Nuclei

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Tidal disruption events (TDEs) are typically discovered in previously quiescent galaxies. However, earlier studies have revealed a handful of TDEs occurring in pre‐existing active galactic nuclei (AGN). We discuss AT2019aalc, a promising TDE candidate in an AGN, and compare it to similar sources.
