Assays with the ability to detect multiple antibodies in parallel have a wide range of potential applications in epidemiologic research. Here, a multiplex enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay-based protein array (ELISA-array) was developed to simultaneously detect five Flaviviridae infections.

Arboviruses from the families Flaviviridae, Togaviridae, and Bunyaviridae are suspected to cause widespread morbidity in sub-Saharan African populations, but little research been done to document the burden and distribution of these pathogens. We tested serum samples from 256 Cameroonian adults from nine rural villages for the presence of Dengue-2 (DEN-

West Nile Virus (Flaviviridae: Flavivirus) in Experimentally Infected Argas Ticks (Acari:Argasidae)
The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1993To better define the possible role of argasid ticks in the epidemiology of West Nile virus, adult Argas arboreus, A. persicus, and A. hermanni were fed through a membrane on fetal bovine serum containing 10(5.5) 50% tissue culture infective doses (TCID50)/ml of West Nile virus. The virus was detected for three and four days after feeding in A. persicus

[A serological survey regarding Flaviviridae infections on the island of Réunion (1971-1989)].
Serological prevalence of Flaviviridae was studied on Reunion Island by testing 2,507 human sera from a randomised sample. Each serum was tested against 5 viruses (yellow fever, dengue type 1 and 2, West Nile and Wesselsbron) using haemagglutination inhibition test: 42.68% of human sera were found positive.
