Interaction of flesh color genes in watermelon [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Heredity, 1998
Watermelon [Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Matsum. & Nakai] flesh color is controlled by several genes to produce red, orange, salmon yellow, canary yellow, or white. The objective of these experiments was to study the interaction of three independently reported gene loci, each having two or three alleles: C (canary yellow) versus c (red), y (salmon yellow)

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

DataSheet_1_High-quality genome assembly and genetic mapping reveal a gene regulating flesh color in watermelon (Citrullus lanatus).zip

open access: yes, 2023
The unique color and type characteristics of watermelon fruits are regulated by many molecular mechanisms. However, it still needs to be combined with more abundant genetic data to fine-tune the positioning.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Table_1_Genetic mapping of a single nuclear locus determines the white flesh color in watermelon (Citrullus lanatus L.).xlsx

open access: yes, 2023
IntroductionFlesh color is an important trait in watermelon (Citrullus lanatus L.). Several flesh color genes have been identified in watermelon; however, the inheritance of and the molecular basis underlying the white flesh trait remain largely unknown ...

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

Effects of Different Varieties on the Degree of Watercore and Quality of Apples: A Correlation Analysis

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
In this study, four representative varieties of watercored apples (‘Fuburuisi’, ‘Meima Fuji’, ‘Yanfu No.3’ and ‘Yanfu No.8’) from the Zhaotong production area of Yunnan were selected as research subjects.

A Study on the Biodiversity of Pigmented Andean Potatoes: Nutritional Profile and Phenolic Composition

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
The characterization of six varieties of native Andean potatoes with a wide biodiversity in tuber shape, flesh, and skin color was performed, through the determination of their proximate composition, mineral content, and phenolic profile.
