Evaluation of Modeling Assumptions for Predicting Structural Damage and Train Derailment Under Earthquake Loading

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 7, Page 1514-1532, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The rapid development of new railway networks and the aging of existing infrastructure in seismic‐prone regions continue to motivate the need for efficient methods to simulate the dynamic behavior of coupled train track structure systems. While detailed train–structure interaction (TSI) models can capture complex mechanisms, they are often too

Dynamical equations of multibody systems on Lie groups

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2015
The Euler–Poinaré principle is a reduced Hamilton’s principle under Lie group framework. In this article, it is applied to derive a hybrid set of dynamical equations of rigid multibody systems, which include four parts: the classical Euler–Lagrange ...

Multiport Models for Dynamics of Flexible Multibody Systems

open access: yesJSME International Journal Series C, 2003
The paper presents a multiport model of flexible multibody systems by analogy with a connection multiport in electrical circuit theory. First we introduce a concept of a fundamental pair, that is, a pair of a mechanical joint and its adjacent body to recognize the flexible multibody system as an interconnected system of such fundamental pairs.

Robust Linearization and Eigenvalue Analysis of General Complex Constrained Multibody Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, Volume 6, Issue 2, Page 187-203, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The derivation of linearized equations and subsequent eigenvalue analysis is the basis for tasks such as frequency‐domain response analysis, control design, and stability assessment for mechanical systems. However, for general multibody systems with redundant or nonholonomic constraints, practical challenges persist in achieving numerically ...

Design of a Hydroelectronic Solar‐Tracking System for Solar Panels

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 5, Page 2600-2625, May 2026.
A prototype of a passive solar‐tracking system utilizing buoyant force based on water level was developed, and its MATLAB/Simulink model was implemented. This study is expected to encourage researchers to design solar‐tracking mechanisms using metals with different thermal expansion coefficients, air, oil, and other fluids. ABSTRACT This study presents
