Wetting film stability and flotation kinetics

Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, 2002
Single bubble experiments performed with different size fractions of quartz particles and different, but known, contact angles revealed two modes of flotation dynamics in superclean water. (1.) A monotonic increase of collection efficiency Ecoll with increasing particle size was observed at high particle hydrophobicity and, correspondingly, a low ...

The kinetics of Fast Flotation using the Reflux Flotation Cell

Chemical Engineering Science, 2019
Abstract This paper examines the kinetics of Fast Flotation of very fine, hydrophobic particles using a rectangular-sectioned downcomer in the Reflux Flotation Cell (RFC). Three separate downcomers of equal height and breadth, but different channel widths of 2, 4.5, and 9 mm, were used to investigate the recovery of particles ranging from 1 to 100 µm

Flotation characteristics and flotation kinetics of fine wolframite

Powder Technology, 2017
Abstract The flotation characteristics and kinetics of fine wolframite from Shizhuyuan Mine, Hunan, China were studied. Coarse and middle particles entered the concentrate easily. However, because of the reduction of middle particles as carriers and the poor collision and attachment between fine particles and air bubbles, it was difficult to float ...

Bubble-spreading kinetics and mineral flotation

Minerals Engineering, 1994
The rate of movement of the three phase contact line when a gas bubble displaces an aqueous solution from silica surfaces of varying hydrophobicity has been examined. Bubbles with radii from 0.4 × 10−3 to 2.6 × 10−3 m have been studied, on surfaces hydrophobized with short chain organosilanes and long chain alcohols.

Flotation kinetics of coal in the Inflatable Cyclonic Flotation Column

Powder Technology, 2018
Abstract This paper mainly investigates the flotation kinetics of coal in the flotation column. The flotation tests were carried out in the Inflatable Cyclonic Flotation Column (ICFC) which consists of two parts, i.e., the inflatable flotation unit and the cyclone flotation zone.

Kinetics and mechanism of coal flotation

Colloid & Polymer Science, 2002
The flotation kinetics of coarse coal particles was studied in a modified version of the Hallimond tube at 25 °C using nitrogen as the carrier gas, in the pH range 2–12. The kinetics was followed by measuring the volume of the particles accumulated in the collector tube as a function of time.

On the kinetics of froth flotation

International Journal of Mineral Processing, 1990
Abstract The problem of froth flotation kinetics is treated as a transport phenomenon. Two coupled equations of balance are formulated which concern the particles attached upon the bubbles and the free particles in the pulp. The combined equations are solved and an analytical expression for the recovery as a function of time is obtained.

Batch flotation kinetics: Fractional calculus approach

Minerals Engineering, 2015
Abstract As in many separation processes, design of flotation systems is governed by kinetics, which is a function of chemical, physical and machine parameters. Several kinetic models have been presented in literature, those based on a homogeneous chemical reactions being the most widespread.

Distributed flotation kinetics models – A new implementation approach for coal flotation

Minerals Engineering, 2014
Abstract Composition-dependent flotation kinetic models with distributed flotation rate constants for predicting the flotation response of the various components of coal have been available for quite some time. However, the full potential of these models have not been realised because the floatability distribution of particles, a key requirement for ...

Thermodynamic and Kinetic Flotation Criteria

Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy Review, 1989
Abstract Flotation thermodynamics and notation kinetics are discussed and compared with chemical thermodynamics and chemical kinetics. While chemical thermodynamics can predict whether a reaction will take place under a given set of conditions (temperature and pressure), and can also predict the direction in which the equilibrium will be shifted in ...
