Effect of Hydraulic and Geometric Parameters on Plunge Point in Density Current [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و مهندسی آبیاری, 2014
When the dense flow mass intersect to stagnant fluid, dense flow penetrates into statically fluid and plunge depth occurs. In this research, hydraulic parameters of density current and bed slope have been investigated, which these have a considering ...

Numerical Simulation of Dam Failure Process Based on Flow-3D

open access: yes, 2023
The process of a dam breach is very complex, and the resulting flood can pose a great threat to the personal and property safety of downstream residents. By using numerical analysis to simulate and analyze the sensitivity of parameters in the breach process of a large dam, it is of great significance for the formulation of emergency plans and rescue ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

A Study of the Conditions of Energy Dissipation in Stepped Spillways with Λ-shaped step Using FLOW-3D

open access: yes, 2017
In the present study, energy dissipation was investigated in a specific type of stepped spillways. The purpose was to achieve the highest level of energy dissipation in downstream of the spillway. It was performed by providing a specific type of geometry

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.
