Overshoots in stress strain curves: Colloid experiments and schematic mode coupling theory

open access: yes, 2012
The stress versus strain curves in dense colloidal dispersions under start-up shear flow are investigated combining experiments on model core-shell microgels, computer simulations of hard disk mixtures, and mode coupling theory. In dense fluid and glassy

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

A Proposal of a Constitutive Description for Aluminium Alloys in Both Cold and Hot Working

open access: yesMetals, 2016
The most important difficulties when the behaviour of a part that is subjected to external mechanical forces is simulated deal with the determination of both the material thermo-mechanical properties and its boundary conditions.

Stress–Strain and Fluid Flow

open access: yes, 2023
AbstractIn this chapter first a multi-phase-field model considering transformation strain and elastic energy is developed. It utilizes the expansion into multiple phases of the multi-phase-field model. In particular, the treatment of the diffuse interface region as an effective medium is discussed in the context of homogenization theory.

Stresses in Smooth Flows of Dense Granular Media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The form of the stress tensor is investigated in smooth, dense granular flows which are generated in split-bottom shear geometries. We find that, within a fluctuation fluidized spatial region, the form of the stress tensor is directly dictated by the ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

A characterization for the flow behavior of as-extruded 7075 aluminum alloy by the improved Arrhenius model with variable parameters

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2013
In order to perform the numerical simulations of forging response and establish the processing parameters for as-extruded 7075 aluminum alloy, the compressive deformation behavior of as-extruded 7075 aluminum alloy were investigated at the temperatures ...

Dissipative scale effects in strain-gradient plasticity: the case of simple shear

open access: yes, 2015
We analyze dissipative scale effects within a one-dimensional theory, developed in [L. Anand et al. (2005) J. Mech. Phys. Solids 53], which describes plastic flow in a thin strip undergoing simple shear.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Influence of Heat Treatment on the AA6061 and AA6063 Aluminum Alloys Behavior at Elevated Deformation Temperature

open access: yesIranian Journal of Materials Science and Engineering, 2021
The hot deformation behavior of the heat-treated AA6061 and AA 6063 aluminum alloys by T6-1, T6-2 artificial aging treatment, and O annealing treatment were studied by compression testing over a temperature range of 350–550  and strain rates of 0.005-0 ...
