Efficacy, safety and toleration of fluconazole suppositories in the treatment of oral candidosis
Mycoses, 1999An open multicentre, non‐comparative study was conducted in three countries to investigate the efficacy, safety and tolerance of fluconazole suppositories in the treatment of oropharyngeal candidosis. Patients received fluconazole 100 mg day−1 in the form of suppositories or capsules.

Isolation of fluconazole-tolerant micromycetes onto different cultivation media
Folia Microbiologica, 2002On studying the dependence of quality and/or quantity of environmental fluconazole-tolerant micromycetes on culture medium in vitro, the highest number of isolates was obtained in Sabouraud agar (SA) without fluconazole (59 CFU/mg of soil sample at 25 degrees C and 31 CFU/mg at 37 degrees C).

Impact of tolerance to fluconazole on treatment response in Candida albicans bloodstream infection
Mycoses, 2020AbstractBackgroundTreatment of Candida albicans bloodstream infection with fluconazole is associated with significant mortality despite in vitro susceptibility to the drug.ObjectivesWe sought to determine whether tolerance to fluconazole is predictive of treatment failure.MethodsWe reviewed patients with monomicrobial C albicans bloodstream infection ...

Candida albicans Msi3p, a homolog of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae Sse1p of the Hsp70 family, is involved in cell growth and fluconazole tolerance [PDF]
We investigated the cellular function of Msi3p, belonging to the heat shock protein 70 family, in Candida albicans. The mutant strain tetMSI3 was generated, in which MSI3 was controlled by a tetracycline-repressive promoter, because there is evidence to suggest that MSI3 is an essential gene. We controlled the MSI3 expression level by doxycycline (DOX)

Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease
There are limited studies about the presence of Candida species (Candida spp.) and ABC genotypes in hospital acquired urinary tract infection (UTI) in children.the study aimed at identification of Candida spp. associated with candiduria in children, detection of fluconazole tolerance and biofilm formation and genotyping of C.

Emerging Evidence of Selection of Fluconazole-Tolerant Fungi in Surgical Intensive Care Units
Archives of Surgery, 1997To determine whether increased use of fluconazole has coincided with a shift in the relative proportion of fluconazole-tolerant species isolated from critically ill surgical patients in 2 university hospitals.Microbiological data and fluconazole administration frequencies were reviewed among patients treated in the surgical intensive care units (SICUs)

A persistent problem in modern health care derives from the overwhelming presence of antibiotic-resistant microbes on biomaterials, more specifically, fungal growth on metal-based implants. This study seeks to investigate the antifungal properties of low-level electrochemical treatments delivered using titanium electrodes against Candida albicans.

Pharmacokinetics and tolerance of fluconazole suppositories in healthy volunteers.
Arzneimittel-Forschung, 1993Fluconazole (Diflucan, CAS 86386-73-4) suppositories offer a novel way to administer this systemically active antimycotic. The pharmacokinetics and toleration of this new formulation have now been examined in healthy adult volunteers. In crossover experiments the bioequivalence was demonstrated for 200 mg suppositories and 200 mg capsules, and for 25 ...

The influence of acidic (5.6) and neutral (7.0) pH and glucose concentrations (0.9 and 2 %) was determined in in vitro biofilm formation and the cell surface hydrophobicity (CSH) in fluconazole (FLC) susceptible and tolerant yeasts of Candida albicans.

50 HIV-positive patients (CDC stage III to VI) with oral candidiasis proven by culture and typical clinical findings were treated with fluconazole (50 to 100 mg/day) over a period of eight to 22 days. After completion of treatment, clinical signs of oral candidiasis had disappeared in 45/50 patients. In 10/50 patients, however, increased concentrations
