First passage of a Markov additive process and generalized Jordan chains [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we consider the first passage process of a spectrally negative Markov additive process (MAP). The law of this process is uniquely characterized by a certain matrix function, which plays a crucial role in fluctuation theory.

The Fluctuation Theorem as a Gibbs Property

open access: yes, 1998
Common ground to recent studies exploiting relations between dynamical systems and non-equilibrium statistical mechanics is, so we argue, the standard Gibbs formalism applied on the level of space-time histories.

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Theory of market fluctuations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We propose coalescent mechanism of economic grow because of redistribution of external resources. It leads to Zipf distribution of firms over their sizes, turning to stretched exponent because of size-dependent effects, and predicts exponential distribution of income between individuals.

Onsager-Machlup theory for nonequilibrium steady states and fluctuation theorems

open access: yes, 2006
A generalization of the Onsager-Machlup theory from equilibrium to nonequilibrium steady states and its connection with recent fluctuation theorems are discussed for a dragged particle restricted by a harmonic potential in a heat reservoir.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Observed Fluctuation Enhancement and Departure from WKB Theory in Sub-Alfvénic Solar Wind

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Using Parker Solar Probe data from orbits 8 through 17, we examine fluctuation amplitudes throughout the critical region where the solar wind flow speed approaches and then exceeds the Alfvén wave speed, taking account of various exigencies of the plasma

Doping asymmetry of superconductivity coexisting with antiferromagnetism in spin fluctuation theory

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2015
We generalize the theory of Cooper-pairing by spin excitations in the metallic antiferromagnetic state to include situations with electron and/or hole pockets.
