A large‐scale retrospective study in metastatic breast cancer patients using circulating tumour DNA and machine learning to predict treatment outcome and progression‐free survival

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
There is an unmet need in metastatic breast cancer patients to monitor therapy response in real time. In this study, we show how a noninvasive and affordable strategy based on sequencing of plasma samples with longitudinal tracking of tumour fraction paired with a statistical model provides valuable information on treatment response in advance of the ...

2D Hydro‐Mechanical‐Chemical Modeling of (De)hydration Reactions in Deforming Heterogeneous Rock: The Periclase‐Brucite Model Reaction

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2020
Deformation at tectonic plate boundaries involves coupling between rock deformation, fluid flow, and metamorphic reactions, but quantifying this coupling is still elusive.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

New look at fluid inclusions

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1982
The long‐held fascination with natural fluid inclusions in minerals is alive and well, partly as a result of new analytical techniques. The fluids and precipitated crystals in these submillimeter‐dimension inclusions could yield evidence of the last stages of crystallization of their host minerals. They are remnants of the fluids with which the mineral

Convective instability of a spherical fluid inclusion [PDF]

open access: yesThe Physics of Fluids, 1987
When a vertical temperature gradient is applied to a large solid containing a spherical fluid inclusion, the temperature in the fluid is a function only of height. The stability of this fluid against convection is investigated and it is found that the principle of exchange of stabilities applies.

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Transport in polymer-gel composites: Theoretical methodology and response to an electric field

open access: yes, 2006
A theoretical model of electromigrative, diffusive and convectivetransport polymer-gel composites is presented. Bulk properties are derived from the standard electrokinetic model with an impenetrable charged sphere embedded in an electrolyte-saturated ...
