Multicolor fluorescence in situ hybridization on metaphase chromosomes and interphase Halo-preparations using cosmid and YAC clones for the simultaneous high resolution mapping of deletions in the dystrophin gene [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
We report on multicolor fluorescence in situ hybridization protocols for the simultaneous visualization of deletion-prone regions for carrier detection of Duchenne/ Becker (DMD/BMD) muscular dystrophy.

A method for nucleic acid hybridization to isolated chromosomes in suspension [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
A procedure was developed to provide differential fluorescent staining of metaphase chromosomes in suspension following nucleic acid hybridization. For this purpose metaphase chromosomes were isolated from a Chinese hamster x human hybrid cell line ...

Artificial Chromosome Doubling in Allotetraploid Calendula officinalis

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
Calendula officinalis L. is known as an ornamental plant as well as a source of biochemical compounds used in cosmetics and industry. C. officinalis has a complex karyotype. Published chromosome numbers differ between 2n = 4x = 28 or 32.

Patterns of gene expression in schistosomes: localization by whole mount in situ hybridization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
rom the identification of genes to the characterization of their functions and interactions. Developmental biologists have long used whole mount in situ hybridization (WISH) to determine gene expression patterns, as a vital tool for formulating and ...

Autofluorescence correction for fluorescence in situ hybridization [PDF]

open access: yesCytometry, 1995
AbstractOptimal sensitivity of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) requires bright signals and low background fluorescence. Use of locus‐specific probes is especially dependent on high sensitivity. Some tissue preparations show high autofluorescence, masking small or dim signals.

Cytomegalovirus infection is common in prostate cancer and antiviral therapies inhibit progression in disease models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Human cytomegalovirus infection is common in normal prostate epithelium, prostate tumor tissue, and prostate cancer cell lines. CMV promotes cell survival, proliferation, and androgen receptor signaling. Anti‐CMV pharmaceutical compounds in clinical use inhibited cell expansion in prostate cancer models in vitro and in vivo, motivating investigation ...

A modified protocol for the detection of three different mRNAs with a new-generation in situ hybridization chain reaction on frozen sections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A new multiple fluorescence in situ hybridization method based on hybridization chain reaction was recently reported, enabling simultaneous mapping of multiple target mRNAs within intact zebrafish and mouse embryos.

Integrative miRNOMe profiling reveals the miR‐195‐5p–CHEK1 axis and its impact on luminal breast cancer outcomes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In luminal (ER+) breast carcinoma (BC), miRNA profiling identified miR‐195‐5p as a key regulator of proliferation that targets CHEK1, CDC25A, and CCNE1. High CHEK1 expression correlates with worse relapse‐free survival after chemotherapy, especially in patients with luminal A subtype.

Rapid mapping of chromosomal breakpoints: from blood to BAC in 20 days [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Structural chromosome aberrations and associated segmental or chromosomal aneusomies are major causes of reproductive failure in humans. Despite the fact that carriers of reciprocal balanced translocation often have no other clinical symptoms or ...

Outcome of HER2 Testing by FISH applying ASCO/CAP 2007 and 2013 guideline in IHC equivocal group of breast cancer: Experience at tertiary cancer care centre

open access: yesSouth Asian Journal of Cancer, 2017
Background and Objectives: HER2 testing guideline of ASCO/CAP for interpretation and reporting has recently been revised. The study is aimed to measure the impact of 2013 CAP guideline on equivocal HER2 test outcome (immunohistochemistry [IHC] 2+) when ...
