The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Fluorescent and quantitative mitochondrial redox imaging of tumor targeted by Octa-RGD probe [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences, 2016
Integrins, over-expressed in a broad range of cancer diseases, are widely utilized as a tumor biomarker. Metabolism investigation also plays important roles in tumor theranostics.

New Fluorescence Probes for Biomolecules [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2015
Steady state fluorescence measurements have been used for the investigation of interaction between the bovine serum albumin (BSA) and fluorescence probes: 3-hydroxy-2,4- bis[(3-methyl-1,3-benzoxazol-2(3H)-ylidene)methyl]cyclobut-2-en-1-one (SQ6), 3-hydroxy- 2,4-bis[(3-methyl-1,3-benzothiazol-2(3H)-ylidene)methyl]cyclobut-2-en-1-one (SQ7) and 3-hydroxy ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Fluorescent Proteins as Proteomic Probes [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular & Cellular Proteomics, 2005
Protein complexes mediate the majority of cellular processes. Knowledge of the localization and composition of such complexes provides key insights into their functions. Although green fluorescent protein (GFP) has been widely applied for in vivo visualization of proteins, it has been relatively little used as a tool for the isolation of protein ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

A Magnetic Resonance-Fluorescent Dual-Mode Imaging Probe for Stem Cell Tracking

open access: yesChinese Journal of Magnetic Resonance, 2019
A magnetic resonance (MR)-fluorescent dual-mode imaging probe was prepared by conjugating guaiazulene to Gd-DOTA, and used to label human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) via electroporation.
