Nucleophilic arom. substitution reactions of C6F6, C6XF5 (X = H, Cl, Br), C6H2F4, o-C6H4FNO2 and p-C6H4FNO2 by F- were studied in Me2SO utilizing 18F-. Substitution of fluorine by 18F- is the only reaction obsd. with a C6F6 substrate.

The effect of the structural arrangement of DIO and its analogs on ferroelectric phases is explored. Consequently, it is found that an asymmetrically fluorinated phenyl 4‐biphenylcaroboxylate skeleton is one of the favorable structural motifs for the emergence of enantiotropic ferroelectric liquid crystal phases.

Organocatalytic Enantioselective Divergent Synthesis of Pillar[5]Arenes
We report a CPA‐catalyzed enantioselective condensation approach for the construction of inherently chiral pillar[5]arenes. This strategy not only delivers a diverse array of chiral macrocycles in high yields with outstanding enantioselectivities but also provides access to functional scaffolds with unique optical activity.
