Rat oligodendroglia express c-met and focal adhesion kinase, protein tyrosine kinases implicated in regulating epithelial cell motility

Neuroscience Letters, 2000
Oligodendrocytes, the myelinating cells of the central nervous system, arise from a profilerating pool of motile progenitor cells. The proliferation and survival of these cells is dependent on signal transduction via several protein tyrosine kinases (PTKs) including receptors for fibroblast growth factor -2, the platelet-derived growth factor receptors

Melanoma cell spreading on fibronectin induced by 12(S)‐HETE involves both protein kinase C‐ and protein tyrosine kinase‐dependent focal adhesion formation and tyrosine phosphorylation of focal adhesion kinase (pp125FAK)

Journal of Cellular Physiology, 1995
AbstractOur previous work demonstrated that 12(S)‐HETE, a lipoxygenase metabolite of arachidonic acid, promoted B16 amelanotic melanoma (B16a) cell spreading on fibronectin. In the current study, we investigated the biochemical mechanisms of the 12(S)‐HETE induced response.

The focal adhesion kinase Pyk2 links Ca2+ signalling to Src family kinase activation and protein tyrosine phosphorylation in thrombin-stimulated platelets

Biochemical Journal, 2015
In blood platelets, stimulation of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) by thrombin triggers the activation of Src family kinases (SFKs), resulting in the tyrosine-phosphorylation of multiple substrates, but the mechanism underlying this process is still poorly understood.

Abstract A249: BI 853520, a potent and highly selective inhibitor of protein tyrosine kinase 2 (focal adhesion kinase), shows efficacy in multiple xenograft models of human cancer.

Molecular Cancer Therapeutics, 2011
Abstract PTK2/FAK is a widely expressed non-receptor tyrosine kinase located mainly at focal adhesions. Sensing upstream signals from growth factor receptors as well as integrins, the enzyme contributes to activation of multiple downstream signaling pathways involved in the regulation of cell survival, proliferation and motility.

[Expression analysis of protein tyrosine kinases of the FAK (focal adhesion kinase) family in osteosarcoma].

Der Pathologe, 2002
Expression analysis of the protein tyrosine kinases, focal adhesion kinase (FAK) and proline-rich tyrosine kinase2 (Pyk2) in high grade osteosarcomas.Expression of the kinases was evaluated qualitatively by immunohistochemical staining and quantitatively by real-time PCR.Osteoblastic cells of high grade osteosarcomas show a distinct FAK expression but ...
