Foliar Analysis as a Diagnostic Technique in Tropical Horticulture [PDF]
A brief history of the development of foliar analysis as a diagnostic technique for horticultural crops is reviewed and discussed. Terminology, together with a basic discussion of the components necessary to operate a successful foliar analysis program for growers, is presented.

Sampling procedure for the foliar analysis of deciduous trees
Journal of Environmental Monitoring, 2002Sampling can be the source of the greatest errors in the overall results of foliar analysis. This paper reviews the variability in heavy metal concentrations in tree crowns, which is a feature that should be known and understood when designing a suitable leaf sampling procedure. The leaf sampling procedures applied in 75 articles were examined. Most of

Foliar analysis by direct‐reading vacuum emission spectrometry
Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1975AbstractA method is described for the determination of calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, inorganic sulphur, boron, manganese and zinc in leaves by direct‐reading vacuum‐emission spectrometry. The ashed samples are diluted with graphite and cellulose.

Foliar microstructure and histochemical analysis of the lavender tree (Heteropyxis natalensis Harv.)
Micron, 2022Heteropyxis natalensis Harv. is a native South African tree used in traditional medicine among Venda and Zulu communities. In this study, micromorphological investigations using light and scanning electron microscopy identified long, tapered non-glandular trichomes on the abaxial and adaxial surfaces of the leaves.

In Situ Analysis of Nickel Uptake from Foliar Application in Pecan Using Instrumental µXRF Analysis
Journal of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, 2021Nickel is an essential element as the cofactor in the enzyme urease, and pecan (Carya illinoinensis (Wangenh.) K. Koch) is known to suffer from commercially important nickel deficiency manifested in "mouse-ear" disease. Foliar application of nickel has been shown to increase foliar nickel concentrations and foliar urease activity and to cure the nickel

Analysis of Foliar Samples of Healthy and Dieback Eucalyptus obliqua
Australian Forestry, 1977SUMMARY Foliar samples were collected and analysed from Eucalyptus obliqua (L'Herit.) at three localities. There were no statistically significant differences between healthy trees and dieback affected trees for foliar N, K, Ca, P, Mg, Na, Cu, Mn, Fe or Al.

SUMMARYThe literature for the past seventy years describes a variety of methods of sampling tea leaves, in some of which analytical data from samples have been suggested as capable of widespread use as a measure of the nutritional status of tea plantations.

Using Foliar Analysis to Classify Nitrogen‐Deficient Sites
Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1984Abstract Discriminant analysis was used to evaluate the efficacy of using foliage N concentration (FN), an adjustment of the foliage N concentration based on stand age (FA), and a nitrogen/phosphorus ratio (N/P) to classify N‐deficient sites. N/P was the superior index of N deficiency.

Foliar analysis using near infrared reflectance spectroscopy
Canadian Journal of Forest Research, 1988Near infrared reflectance spectroscopy was evaluated as a method for measuring nitrogen and lignin content in foliage of native forest and prairie species. Near infrared reflectance spectra (1590 to 2357 nm) were obtained for 163 samples of dried green leaves and leaf litter from 18 deciduous and 2 coniferous tree species.
