Bite force estimates and morphological correlations of jaw muscles in parrots
Abstract Parrots (Order: Psittaciformes) are renowned for their high bite force (BF) and morphological correlates thereof, including a highly mobile skull and two unique mandibular adductor muscles—m. pseudomasseter and m. ethmomandibularis, with the former being hypothesized to increase force output.

The effect of leaching on the nutritive value of forage plants
Abstract does not appear. First page follows. Introduction A significant decrease in digestibility of bur clover after exposure to sunlight and rain has been reported in the first paper and evidence was presented which indicated that the greater part of the decrease could be accounted for by the loss of soluble ...

Modelling responses of forages to climate change with a focus on nutritive value [PDF]
European livestock agriculture is extraordinarily diverse, and so are the challenges it faces. This diversity has contributed to the development of a fragmented set of research communities. As a result, livestock research is often under-represented at policy level, despite its high relevance for the environment and food security.

The effects of restricted nursing (RN) and the administration of a bovine appeasing substance (BAS) on days −8 and 0 in relation to weaning were evaluated. Both strategies were effective in improving the growth performance of beef calves. Regarding welfare, BAS ‐especially on day 0‐ was more effective than RN.
