Microevolution of human archaic groups of Arica, northern Chile, and its genetic contribution to populations from the Formative Period Microevolución de grupos humanos arcaicos de Arica, norte de Chile, y su contribución genética a las poblaciones del Período Formativo

open access: yesRevista Chilena de Historia Natural, 2006
The microevolution of the archaic populations from Chile's northern coast and its morphological contribution to Formative period groups was studied.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Formative Feedback First – does it really work for International Students?

open access: yes, 2011
This study presents a small scale study, which focuses on the impact of “Formative Feedback First” a collaborative intervention made on a final year module undertaken by all one year “top up” students.

An exploration of student nurses’ experiences of formative assessment

open access: yes, 2009
The idea that formative assessment has the potential to prepare students, not only to succeed in summative assessments during the course, but also in the world beyond the classroom [Melland, H., Volden, C., 1998.

Screening Diabetic Retinopathy Using an Automated Retinal Image Analysis System in Independent and Assistive Use Cases in Mexico: Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yes, 2021
BACKGROUND: The automated screening of patients at risk of developing diabetic retinopathy represents an opportunity to improve their midterm outcome and lower the public expenditure associated with direct and indirect costs of common sight-threatening ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

A call to action for undertaking and sharing formative evaluations of public health campaigns

open access: yes, 2021
Mass media campaigns are common interventions used in public health, but publicly available evaluations of such campaigns are few and far between, and particularly so for formative evaluations. In 2019, the Heart Foundation released a new campaign called

An Introduction to Human Education Methods based on the Analysis of the Foundations of God's Formative Education [PDF]

open access: yesمطالعات قرآن و حدیث
God's formative education is man's education through formative factors beyond his control, which can be the basis for deriving human-to-human education methods.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
