Evolution of spoon-shaped networks

open access: yes, 2016
We consider a regular embedded network composed by two curves, one of them closed, in a convex domain $\Omega$. The two curves meet only in one point, forming angle of $120$ degrees. The non-closed curve has a fixed end point on $\partial\Omega$.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

A biaxial test for rheological and formability identification

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2010
Accurate constitutive laws and formability limits of materials are essential for a numerical optimization of sheet forming processes. The main objective of this work is to develop a new experimental device able to give for a unique specimen a good ...

Inverse Compton Contribution to the Star-Forming Extragalactic Gamma-Ray Background

open access: yes, 2012
Fermi has resolved several star-forming galaxies, but the vast majority of the star-forming universe is unresolved and thus contributes to the extragalactic gamma ray background (EGB). Here, we calculate the contribution from star-forming galaxies to the

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Distances to nearby molecular clouds and star forming regions.III. Localizing extinction jumps with a Hipparcos calibration of 2mass photometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We want to estimate the distance to molecular clouds in the solar vicinity in a statistically precise way. Clouds are recognized as extinction discontinuities. The extinction is estimated from the $(H-K) \ vs.

IR observations of MS 1054-03: Star Formation and its Evolution in Rich Galaxy Clusters

open access: yes, 2007
We study the infrared (IR) properties of galaxies in the cluster MS 1054-03 at z=0.83 by combining MIPS 24 micron data with spectra of more than 400 galaxies and a very deep K-band selected catalog.

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.
