Application of Different Hill’s Yield Criteria to Predict Limit Strains for Aerospace Titanium and Aluminum Sheet Alloys [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology, 2014
More recently, Titanium and aluminum alloys are gaining more interests to be implemented in hydro-forming applications. It is necessary to predict forming limits for these sheet alloys.

A study of combined finite element method simulation/experiment to predict forming limit curves of steel DP350 sheets

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2018
In this study, to estimate the forming limit curves of a steel DP350 sheet, a combination of the finite element method simulation and experimental methods was adopted using the fracture height of experimental specimens and the corresponding in-plane ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

The Establishment of Surface Roughness as Failure Criterion of Al–Li Alloy Stretch-Forming Process

open access: yesMetals, 2016
Taking Al–Li–S4–T8 Al–Li alloy as the study object, based on the stretching and deforming characteristics of sheet metals, this paper proposes a new approach of critical orange peel state characterizations on the basis of the precise measurement of ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Numerical Simulation of the Forming Limit of Superplastic AZ31B Magnesium Alloy Sheet

open access: yes, 2017
Numerical simulation of superplastic forming limit of AZ31B magnesium alloy sheet was investigated. The damage evolution equation based on the law of the micro-damage evolution and statistical mechanics was derived, and damage characteristic parameters ...

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics
