Effects of fowl adenovirus infection on the immune system of chickens

Journal of Comparative Pathology, 1992
A virulent strain of serotype 8 fowl adenovirus (FAV) was isolated from an outbreak of inclusion body hepatitis (IBH) in broiler flocks. Post-mortem changes included characteristic liver lesions with intranuclear inclusion bodies in the hepatocytes and severe lymphocytic depletion in the bursa, thymus and spleen.

The complete nucleotide sequence of fowl adenovirus type 8

Microbiology, 2000
The fowl adenovirus type 8 (FAdV-8) genome was sequenced and found to be 45063 nucleotides in length, the longest adenovirus (AdV) genome for which the complete nucleotide sequence has been determined so far. No regions homologous to early regions 1, 3 and 4 (E1, E3 and E4) of mastadenoviruses were recognized.

Identification of a fowl adenovirus gene with sequence homology to the 100K gene of human adenovirus

Gene, 1993
The nucleotide sequence of a region of the fowl adenovirus serotype 10 (FAV-10) genome, located between map units 57.3 and 62.6, has been determined. This sequence contains the entire coding region of the FAV equivalent to the 100K gene of human adenovirus (HAV). The FAV 100K polypeptide was found to consist of 798 amino acids with a deduced M(r) of 89,

Characterization of Two Strains of Fowl Adenovirus Type 1

Avian Diseases, 1981
An adenovirus isolated from the trachea of a chicken with respiratory disease was compared with an isolate obtained from the trachea of a clinically normal chicken. The isolates caused similar respiratory disease experimentally but differed in plaque morphology and fluorescent-antibody reactions in infected chick embryos.

FOWL ADENOVIRUS VACCINE

2003
The present invention is concerned with an attenuated, orally immunogenic fowl adenovirus of serotype 4, that is able to produce a cytopathic effect (CPE) in cells of a QT 35 cell line, and to vaccines containing such viruses.

Characterization of fowl adenovirus serotype 4 circulating in chickens in China

Veterinary Microbiology, 2019
Outbreaks of fowl adenovirus (FAdV) has resulted in huge economic losses in poultry industry in China since 2015. This study detected the pathogens from diseased chickens and determined that fowl adenovirus serotype 4 (FAdV-4) and co-infection of immunosuppressive pathogens were the causes of the outbreaks.

Serological and phylogenetic analysis indicating prevalence of fowl adenovirus in China

Veterinary Record, 2018
Fowl adenoviruses (FAdVs), which belong to the genus  Aviadenovirus  in the Adenoviridae family, are grouped into five species named Fowl adenovirus A–E ( FAdV-A to FAdV - E ) and 12 serotypes (1–11, 8a, 8b) based on genome sequencing and virus neutralisation, respectively.

Immunological and molecular comparison of fowl adenovirus serotypes 4 and 10

Archives of Virology, 1995
Some discussion has centered on whether fowl adenovirus (FAV) serotypes 4 and 10 are distinct serotypes or in fact should be reclassified as a single serotype. We have undertaken a detailed characterisation of representatives of both serotypes in order to determine if types 4 and 10 should be grouped together or retained as distinct serotypes ...

Expression of fowl adenovirus type 10 antigens in Escherichia coli

Veterinary Microbiology, 1990
In an attempt to construct a genetic map of the fowl adenovirus (FAV) and to determine which viral proteins are natural immunogens in chickens and hence may be relevant to protective immunity we have constructed an expression library of FAV type 10 DNA.

Cytokine Patterns Associated with a Serotype 8 Fowl Adenovirus Infection

Viral Immunology, 2013
This study examined cytokine gene expression patterns associated with fowl adenovirus (FAdV) infection. The selected cytokine mRNA was quantified by quantitative real-time reverse transcription-PCR in spleen, liver, and cecal tonsil during the course of infection of chickens with a serotype 8 FAdV (FAdV-8).
