Model-Driven Applications of Fractional Derivatives and Integrals

open access: yesCoRR, 2014
Fractional order derivatives and integrals (differintegrals) are viewed from a frequency-domain perspective using the formalism of Riesz, providing a computational tool as well as a way to interpret the operations in the frequency domain. Differintegrals provide a logical extension of current techniques, generalizing the notion of integral and ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

On fractional derivatives with generalized Mittag-Leffler kernels

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2018
Fractional derivatives with three parameter generalized Mittag-Leffler kernels and their properties are studied. The corresponding integral operators are obtained with the help of Laplace transforms.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Generalized Fractional ρ,k,φ-Proportional Hilfer Derivatives and Some Properties

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics
Building on previous work in fractional calculus, this paper introduces new definitions for the ρ,k,φ-proportional integral and ρ,k,φ-proportional H fractional derivative.

Existence of Positive Solutions for a System of Singular Fractional Boundary Value Problems with p-Laplacian Operators

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
We investigate the existence and multiplicity of positive solutions for a system of Riemann–Liouville fractional differential equations with singular nonnegative nonlinearities and p-Laplacian operators, subject to nonlocal boundary conditions which ...

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

An Expansion Formula with Higher-Order Derivatives for Fractional Operators of Variable Order

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
We obtain approximation formulas for fractional integrals and derivatives of Riemann-Liouville and Marchaud types with a variable fractional order. The approximations involve integer-order derivatives only. An estimation for the error is given.

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Ergodicity of hypoeliptic SDEs driven by fractional Brownian motion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We demonstrate that stochastic differential equations (SDEs) driven by fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H > 1/2 have similar ergodic properties as SDEs driven by standard Brownian motion.
