The closed-form solution by the exponential rational function method for the nonlinear variable-order fractional differential equations

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics
The symmetry features of fractional differential equations allow effective explanation of physical and biological phenomena in nature. The generalized form of the fractional differential equations is the variable-order fractional differential equations ...

About Some Possible Implementations of the Fractional Calculus

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
We present a partial panoramic view of possible contexts and applications of the fractional calculus. In this context, we show some different applications of fractional calculus to different models in ordinary differential equation (ODE) and partial ...

Numerical Schemes for Fractional Ordinary Differential Equations

open access: yes, 2012
Fractional calculus, which has almost the same history as classic calculus, did not attract enough attention for a long time. However, in recent decades, fractional calculus and fractional differential equations become more and more popular because of its powerful potential applications.

Optimal error estimates of spectral Petrov-Galerkin and collocation methods for initial value problems of fractional differential equations

open access: yes, 2015
We present optimal error estimates for spectral Petrov-Galerkin methods and spectral collocation methods for linear fractional ordinary differential equations with initial value on a finite interval.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Fractional Complex Transform for Fractional Differential Equations

open access: yes, 2010
Fractional complex transform is proposed to convert fractional differential equations into ordinary differential equations, so that all analytical methods devoted to advanced calculus can be easily applied to fractional calculus.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

Solitary wave solutions of the conformable space–time fractional coupled diffusion equation

open access: yesPartial Differential Equations in Applied Mathematics
In the realm of spatio-temporal fractional dynamics in a predator–prey system, we investigate fractional solitary wave-like solutions using the conformable space–time fractional coupled diffusion equation.
