Investigating the Protein Signature of Adamantinomatous Craniopharyngioma Pediatric Brain Tumor Tissue: Towards the Comprehension of Its Aggressive Behavior

open access: yesDisease Markers, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
Although histologically benign, adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma (AC) pediatric brain tumor is a locally aggressive disease that frequently determines symptoms and hormonal dysfunctions related to the mass effect on the surrounding structures. Another typical feature of this benign neoplasm is the presence of voluminous liquid cysts frequently ...

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 3, Page 588-610, March 2026.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Review of Small Gauge Vitrectomy: Progress and Innovations

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, Volume 2017, Issue 1, 2017., 2017
Purpose. To summarise the surgical advances and evolution of small gauge vitrectomy and discuss its principles and application in modern vitreoretinal surgery. The advent of microincisional vitrectomy systems (MIVS) has created a paradigm shift away from twenty‐gauge vitrectomy systems, which have been the gold standard in the surgical management of ...

Fragmentomics of urinary cell-free DNA in nuclease knockout mouse models

open access: yesPLOS Genetics, 2022
Urinary cell-free DNA (ucfDNA) is a potential biomarker for bladder cancer detection. However, the biological characteristics of ucfDNA are not well understood. We explored the roles of deoxyribonuclease 1 (DNASE1) and deoxyribonuclease 1-like 3 (DNASE1L3) in the fragmentation of ucfDNA using mouse models.

Early detection of ovarian cancer using cell-free DNA fragmentomes and protein biomarkers. [PDF]

open access: yes
Ovarian cancer is a leading cause of death for women worldwide in part due to ineffective screening methods. In this study, we used whole-genome cell-free DNA (cfDNA) fragmentome and protein biomarker (CA-125 and HE4) analyses to evaluate 591 women with ...

Clinical Application of Peripheral Blood Biomarkers for Solid Tumors

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
Peripheral blood biomarkers provide a minimally invasive, dynamic, and potentially more accurate means to obtain a comprehensive tumor profile. Technologies for detecting them are advancing, and with the help of artificial intelligence, they are being used more and more often for cancer diagnosis, prognostic assessment, and therapeutic monitoring ...

Detection of known gene fusions in cancer cell lines using whole-genome bisulfite sequencing data

open access: yesScientific Reports
Whole-genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS) provides multiple molecular information layers including methylation, copy number variations (CNVs), single nucleotide variants (SNVs), and fragmentome patterns in cell-free DNA (cfDNA) while gene fusion detection

A pan-cancer compendium of 1,294 plasma cell-free DNA methylomes and fragmentomes enabling multicancer detection [PDF]

open access: yes
Cell-free DNA analysis via methylation and fragmentation profiling has advanced minimally invasive cancer detection; however, broader application has been limited by small cohorts and inconsistent data processing.

Cell‐free epigenomes enhanced fragmentomics‐based model for early detection of lung cancer

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 2, February 2025.
Lung cancer‐related changes in fragmentomic features were unevenly distributed across the genome, showing significant enrichment in epigenetically regulated regions of specific genes. The cfDNA fragmentomics‐based model demonstrated superior detection capability, especially for early‐stage lung cancer.
