A Diffusive Predator-Prey System with a Free Boundary
In this paper, we consider a problem with a free boundary for a diffusive predator-prey system in the onedimensional case. Nonlinear problems with free boundary are studied using a method based on constructing a priori estimates.

On the optimal control for a semilinear equation with costdepending on the free boundary
We study an optimal control problem for a semilinearelliptic boundary value problem giving rise to a free boundary. Here, the freeboundary is generated due to the fact that the nonlinear term of the stateequation is not differentiable.

Numerical solution of a free boundary problem by interchanging dependent and independent variables [PDF]
The classical problem of seepage of fluid through a porous dam is solved to illustrate a new approach to more general free boundary problems. The numerical method is based on the interchange of the dependent variable, representing velocity potential ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Quenching phenomenon of singular parabolic problems with L^1 initial data
We extend some previous existence results for quenching type parabolic problems involving a negative power of the unknown in the equation to the case of merely integrable initial data. We show that $L^1(\Omega)$ is the suitable framework to obtain the

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Remarks on positive and free boundary solutions to a singular equation
The equation −∆u = χ{u>0} − 1 uβ +λf(x, u) in Ω with Dirichlet boundary condition on ∂Ω has a maximal solution uλ ≥ 0 for every λ > 0. For λ less than a constant λ ∗ the solution vanishes inside the domain, and for λ > λ∗ the solution is ...

We consider the high-dimensional equation ∂tu-Δum+u-βχ{u>0}=0{\partial_{t}u-\Delta u^{m}+u^{-\beta}{\chi_{\{u>0\}}}=0}, extending the mathematical treatment made in 1992 by B. Kawohl and R. Kersner for the one-dimensional case.

A minimum problem with free boundary in Orlicz spaces [PDF]
We consider the optimization problem of minimizing $\int_{\Omega}G(|\nabla u|)+\lambda \chi_{\{u>0\}} dx$ in the class of functions $W^{1,G}(\Omega)$ with $u-\phi_0\in W_0^{1,G}(\Omega)$, for a given $\phi_0\geq 0$ and bounded.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...
