Space-frequency model of amplified spontaneous emission and super-radiance in free electron laser operating in the linear and non-linear regimes

open access: yes, 2002
A three-dimensional, space-frequency model for the excitation of electromagnetic radiation in a free-electron laser is presented. The approach is applied in a numerical particle code WB3D, simulating the interaction of a free-electron laser operating in ...

On Free-Electron Laser Growing Modes and their Bandwidth

open access: yes, 2011
Free-electron lasers play an increasing role in science, from generating unique femtosecond X- ray pulses for single short recording of the protein structures to amplifying feeble interactions in advanced cooling systems for high-energy hadron colliders.

Development of coherence in the high-gain Compton free-electron laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
The start-up of the free-electron laser is treated by linear analysis in the high-gain Compton regime.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Chaos in free electron laser oscillators

open access: yes, 2009
The chaotic nature of a storage-ring Free Electron Laser (FEL) is investigated. The derivation of a low embedding dimension for the dynamics allows the low-dimensionality of this complex system to be observed, whereas its unpredictability is demonstrated,

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Efficient electronic structure calculation for molecular ionization dynamics at high x-ray intensity

open access: yesStructural Dynamics, 2015
We present the implementation of an electronic-structure approach dedicated to ionization dynamics of molecules interacting with x-ray free-electron laser (XFEL) pulses.

Ultrafast orbital tomography of a pentacene film using time-resolved momentum microscopy at a FEL

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Ultrafast pulses are useful to investigate the electron dynamics in excited atoms, molecules and other complex systems. Here, the authors measure transient photoelectron momentum maps following the free-electron laser pulse-induced ionization of a ...

Dominant Secondary Nuclear Photoexcitation with the X-ray Free Electron Laser

open access: yes, 2014
The new regime of resonant nuclear photoexcitation rendered possible by x-ray free electron laser beams interacting with solid state targets is investigated theoretically.
